That fan looks like it made more noise than just BANG! Best of luck in finding it's replacement. Regarding an electric fan, you might look into the hydraulic cooling fans on some of these large tracked mulching machines. The fellow I had do some work on my place had one fail and he got the parts overnight. The fan was about 24" in diameter and it took a 40 amp fuse. So it probably moves a lot of air. My .02. Eddie if you have any part numbers, description of the fan, model of the dozer pass it along and we can search local area guys to see if there is one available in New England.

I have all the parts and started putting it back together today.
The guys at Case really put allot of effort into finding me a fan that would work, but they were either an inch larger or an inch smaller. Mine is 25 1/2 inches wide from tip to tip. If it came down to it, I could make either work, but I didn't want to. A non-reversable fan, which is actually what I'd prefer would cost around $300.
The shroud just doesn't exist brand new, and nothing is close that's on any other tractor that they make or sell. If I couldn't find a used one, I'd have to rebuild the broken one.
While searching online, I found Heavy Equipment Salvage and Parts: Southern Tractor Service and Salvage and that they had three Case 1550 dozers that they are dismantling. I called them and they went out to see if they had what I wanted. They did. Cost of the fan was $350 and the shroud was $250. Shipping was another $100, strapped to a pallet with ConWay.
Case had the bracket to mount the fan for $238, brand new. I wanted new for this over used since there is a bearing in there.
$938 total, and I'm on my way to getting back to building my deer blind.

That's crazy! I can't believe the $$ some of the parts cost...
A friend of mine brought his L3240 over to help me bush hog. He poked his eye, er I mean his headlight. So, I thought since he broke it helping me I'd order it for him........just the single headlight assembly.....I thought it would be high at $75 or so........it was $178!

I got it all back together, but it was a comedy of errors. I put the pully in the wrong place and had to take it apart. Then I realized that I had to put two of the bracket bolts on before the pully, so for back apart again. After putting it on and tightening it up, I couldn't get the belt on. Yup, I put the bracket on upside down. Four hours to install a fan, you gotta love it!!!
The next afternoon, I put the rest of it back together, and this morning, go to work. My biggest fear was that will all my mistakes, I got something wrong. If that wasn't it, then I was sure that the parts were bad and that fan would explode on me at start up.
As you can see in this picture, it's all working fine!!

Then I spent the day moving dirt. It was fun, and the results are starting to show. Hopefully I'll be done with the dirt work tomorrow.

Eddie, I expect things like that when I'm the one doing it, but I didn't expect it from you. I figured you'd have an easier time because you're obviously more mechanic than I.
Day before yesterday I got my little Mantis tiller out and got it started, let it warm up at idle a long time, but every time I tried to give it a little gas, it died. I pulled the fuel filter from the fuel tank and cleaned it; didn't change a thing. I pulled the spark plug and cleaned it; still didn't change a thing. I put a new air filter on it; still no help. So it's got to be a carburetor adjustment. I got out the manual. I've never seen one with quite the same kind of adjustment. Both the high speed and low speed screws have stops so they can only be turned less than half a turn stop to stop. The idle speed adjusting screw works normally. So I played with a screwdriver and 3 screws. I finally got it right, but I figure it was a 2 minute job that took me an hour or more.
