Thanks, this is a great idea.....I could at least pipe it downhill, RAM pump it to create a small pond....15' oval maybe 12' deep.
I could get the water tested to see if it was clean enough to take up to my building to shower in...maybe even brush teeth in....(it looks pristine) I bring city water up in 300 gal tanks and add 1 cup clorox to brush and shower.
That's a BEAUTIFUL waterfall that you have....Does it ever freeze into ice sculpture?

No, the streams flow dries up in late summer and winter. When you walk back to the fall there is something magical about the area. The noise of the water with the sound absorbing moss surrounds you in this very soothing racket.

My cabin site is dry so I've faced many of your battles. Get the water tested, but I highly doubt it would qualify as being potable. That said, with filtration and treatment it might be suitable for potable water. Ozone treatment is the best method for this, but chlorine works too. The problem with chlorine is maintaining the correct dosage. Trust me, it's not good enough to just dump a cup full into the tank. That said, do try contacting the government branch that handles your plumbing inspections. It took some doing, but I have a fully permitted and inspected water supply system that does not use a well as the water source.

FYI - your state code probably requires potable water be used for all functIons except flushing the toilet.

I agree with this, you don't want anyone coming on your property and telling you what you can or can't do. Once they come they will see what you have and it will always be their way not yours.
My philosophy! Well said.

I've been in this same exact situation just in a different manner. I had water disappear about 200 yards up the hill only to reappear in a place i didnt want it to. My neighbor called the EPA or forestry service or somebody to see what could be done. They came, took lots of pics and told us we couldnt touch the natural flow of the water. My neighbor moved 2 months later and i'm still stuck with the water issues. It's not bothering any structure, just an annoyance where it reappears down the hill. The inspector or geologist or whatever you want to call him comes back out every 2 or 3 years and takes note of any changes to the stream. So by all means.....DO NOT call anybody. It will be the same way forever if you do.

I was able to add a 8" pipe and divert some of the water, but there was some formula he used to calculate how much i could divert. Something like I couldn't do more than 45% I think. Its been years ago.

Keep in mind ram pumps sound like a hammer on a steel T-post.

A constant

all day, all night, all the time. If your neighbor had one you'd know it. Even a neighbor several properties away.

The one I heard was much louder than that! It was terrible, like banging a large steel pipe. There were two nearby houses, just a horse pasture away.

The guy in that video needs to know that by "neoprene" they are referring to a nylon-reinforced material, almost like a mudflap (but more flexible). Not referring to a mousepad. Does he have a followup video? I don't think a mousepads gonna work for long in there.
