Decided against a box scraper

I like the "washes up on the beach" notion. That's what happened with me. I originally thought a box blade was unnecessary, I have an 8' rake and a rototiller. And, I also believed a hydraulic top link would be unecessary. But, once these tools and parts are lying around. they can extend your capability and open the horizon for newer and better projects that were not possible or on the table before. Yeah, I have some attachments lying idle around here, but the guilt is not there because the benefit from a single use was greater than the price. Hey, it makes a nice rear weight box, too. Holds a lot of suitcase weights.

I put an ad in craigslist for cat 1 attachments and got a reply from someone looking for the same thing. He said that he's been watching for a while and that the small implements are rare and command a premium when they do show up.
I just got back from my dealer and he sells a 4' box scraper that is made by a Tennessee company for $330 + tax.

Edit... the fellow that emailed me is a TBN member. :)

WE cross paths again Ian. Good luck in your search. I'll keep my eye open for a 4'er.

I'm pretty much in the same boat, except I'm watching for a decent used 5 footer, even a 6 would be ok. Not something I'll use much, so used and beat up would be fine. I enjoy fixing things, so beat up is actually preferable to me.

Am in the same boat with you Chilly, different ocean tho. If I cross trails with one on cl in your neck of the woods I will pass it on. I will be driving to Oregon in a couple of weeks so will be looking for bargains along the way.

I'm the guy who responded to Ian's post on Craigslist and told him about the new box grader at the local Kubota dealer for $330. Funny how paths cross, isn't it? I'm still holding out for the deal of the decade on a used one, so if I can get Ian to buy a new one I won't have to compete with him for the next great deal on a used one around here!!

Just kidding, I'm mighty tempted by the new one also. My driveway is 900 feet of gravel that I've maintained by hand for the last 24 years. I'm liking the idea of mechanized assault on that beast!

Just do what I did...tell TSC to order one for you. The day that it came in I found a 4' Howse in the classifieds for $250. Tell TSC thanks but no thanks and save yourself about three hundred.
It was close too, I was at the store a couple days before picking up a load of wood pellets. If it was there then I would have bought it.

3 new brothers came to town a few years ago, and ordered a few obscure parts then said no thanks changed my mind, then a month later another brother would come in and try to pick it up cheap. Worked at a few places 1x but probably works better in a bigger place as there are no secrets here for very long.

How could you guys forget, its great for carrying Christmas trees. Me and my redneck snowmobile last weekend.

Best picture of a box blade in action yet. It's also one thing I never thought of using mine for.

I bought a used 6 footer ten years ago for about half the price of new back then. It is probably the most used attachment I have, and it usually goes right back on after any of the others come off. I think of it as my default attachment.

You following me around? Seems like every forum I join, you're either already there or show up shortly thereafter.

That's it. I'm going to join a flower arranging forum and see if you find me again. :p
