(To the wife) It is imperative that a pilot hole be dug, where you want that walk out basement, to find any hidden obstacles and analyze the soil. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

(To myself) This is a neat sand box, how deep can I dig a hole. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

8'6", OK that's deep enough! No obstacles, were green, I mean orange, to go. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Must be nice to live on that nice sandy land. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif The difference in soils in different places can be amazing. Years ago, when I had a swimming pool installed in the back yard, they dug through 6" of top soil, about 3 inches of limestone, then hard clay to 6' and hit solid rock (fortunately 6' was as deep as we were going). A year later a neighbor just across the alley and one lot north of us (less than 100' from our swimming pool) had one installed and it was like digging on a sandy beach all the way. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

That is a beautiful machine and the area looks pretty nice too.

Did you have as much fun filling the hole back in? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Poppa, about 3 pushes with the FEL from each side, compacted the hole with tires, Then floated and back drug with the FEL and the job was complete in about 4 minutes. The rush didn't last long enough. But when the back tire was on the fill I did have thoughts of sinking down, having to use the differential, and having to use the FEL and BH to pull myself out.....but no luck.... I forgot I had it in 4WD, and project was completed. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I can relate. There's nothing worse that having a toy/tool and having nothing to do with it. When I got my PHD earlier this year I just had to hook it up, drive to my vegetable garden and drill a series of holes. Gotta check it out ... right?. I looked 'round to see my wife standing there with a puzzled expression on her face wondering what the h*** kind of vegetable I was going to be planting in 3' deep holes. She walked away shaking her head when I turned round and started filling them back in. You'd think that after 25 years she would know me better ... perhaps she does.
By the way, that's one heck of a view.

5. house site needs 20 hours
6. water diversionary channels need 20 hours
7. digging mesquite need 100 hours
8. 2 small ponds need 20 hours
9. 70 acres partially to clear of youpon 2000 hours
10. elevate island - 10 hours

Yes there is something worse!
I have many, many projects to do, but no money to do them without going into debt (credit cards BAD!). But I have the tool/toy, and I have the projects all lined up!

If anyone here has some FREE dirt that they want to dump in my front yard, be my guest! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Txdon, that's alot of work for a 24 hp tractor and a 57 year old body. I think the body will give out before the tractor so I'll have to take a raincheck. You better only be in your 20's or you're never going to live long enough to even come close to putting a dent in that list. Still, we all need something to aim and strive for, it's just that these days my goals are a little less ambitious than they used to be. I'm happy to just piddle around at my own pace but don't let me stop you. Have at it bro'.

I have about 15 tons of dirt I would love to move to Ohio. Remnants of the pole barn build, and no where to move it.

You can put it right here...

Is that "Lake Milton" or "Andy Lake"?????? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Actually, Lake Milton is about 1000 feet on the other side of those trees across the road.

That last picture was taken the end of December.
Here's a picture I took a few minutes ago.
Things are drying up a bit since last time! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif (see Daryl, it's not so bad anymore!)

Just dump that dirt over on the left side, next to the other dirt my neighbor put over there... (Aren't neighbors with tractors great?)

It also looks like PineRidge has moved his Canada Goose problem about 45 minutes to the east of him! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
