You don't have enough traction with that to dig a trench. You can rent a trencher at Home Depot from about $100, I think that's your best bet.

X2. I think your asking for trouble trying that on the lawn tractor, it might damage the hydrostatic transmission.

Trenching in poly pipe 6" deep in my soil would be a challenge for a deere x7 series. Maybe downhill? And a deere x7 series probably has about 3x the pull power than a lawn mower with tiny rear turfs.

What he pictures, I doubt would pull a knife to make a 1' hole only 3" deep downhill. If you want a good anchor or park break....go ahead and rig up an anchor to it.

I did that exact thing and broke my toplink. My subsoiler didn't have enough range of motion on the toplink attachment for it to be turned around. When I lifted it, the toplink snapped.

Ouch!! My little Kioti is only 22-hp so I don't think it can break anything, might be wrong about that. My subsoiler has a sheer bolt. Got it to pull behind a slightly larger, 52-hp, tractor at times.

But thanks for the warning, I will be careful.

First of all please don't insult the TBN crowd by implying we have common sense.
I'm pretty sure someone like you or rswyan could "hop up" A lawnmower (where is the dividing line?)

and slit trench a cable. Might need to be done in beach sand at first. But it sounds like a challenge.

Especially to the "Tim the Toolman" types.

If we want to hash out the differences between lawn mower, garden tractor, SCUT, etc again.....I don't think I have the patience and will unsubscribe from this thread.

So in the context of this thread, and what the OP has, and what he wants to accomplish: I'll stand by my statement that a lawnmower ain't gonna work. No point in debating the semantics about it with me.
