Thanks, CJ,, will keep that in mind, I asked in an email to have the dealer price me out a set, I guess I will see how bad it is going to be, but I think it is something I should have. I am not a very good mechanic, but sometimes with a good manual you can thread your way through things.

No problem, should be $75. You can also download them but I did not have good success doing so. Like has been stated you will get conflicting info in the manuals so double check things. My manual says 225ft lbs for the front tires!! should be 150ft lbs. CJ

I agree. It is disappointing when companies take a CYA approach and force the customer to bear unnecessary expense as well as waste perfectly good and expensive natural resources. You'd think that in this era of mucho expensive oil products that engineers would incorporate simple ways of cleaning out metal filings and making filter changes without loss of much oil. It is particularly galling as HST pump and transmission failures seem to be almost rare as hen's teeth with modern CUTs. I appreciate that when we attach hydraulic implements we break into the system but that is what filters are for and it certainly doesn't degrade the lubrication or other qualities of the oil. I really wonder if there is greater risk in fiddling with the oil change than there is in just leaving the system alone or just changing the filter. I also wonder what is so different about automobile ATs that allows Mercedes and others to essentially load them with ATF at the factory and seal them so that nothing needs to be touched or even checked (there is no transmission dipstick anymore) for 100,000 miles (2000hrs or so)? Aren't ATs and HST systems kissing cousins in terms of wear and protection?

Yes, in fact a couple of manufacturers spec dextron 2 as a fluid for their hydrostatic systems. Dennision being one of them. I would bet that at least 1/2 of the hydrostatic system failures are a result of improper repair [dirt in lines, no charge pressure ect.] With 1 of my big hydrostatic customers they have only 3 employees that are allowed to touch anything to do with the hydrostatic systems. Our tractors are filtered so well that the dirt would have to pass through 2 filters to get to the stat, so dirt from couplers should be a non issue. After this initial 50 hour thing I will do oil sampling on mine just to find out how clean the systems stay. I actually stock a Hydralic oil that is rated for 12,000 hours, so I can't believe this oil in the tractors will not run longer. The sampling will tell the story. CJ

I am a little red faced with this one. I have torque wrenches that go to 600ft lbs. When I got to about 200lbs something told me this was not right. so I started looking elsewhere and found the 150lb spec. I didn't tear anything up! CJ

All the references to warranty in this post got me curious enough to read the Kioti warranty on line.

C. The General and Extended Warranties do not cover the following:

Section C Item 2 A repair made or parts replaced or modified by anyone other than an authorized KIOTI dealer.

D. The warranty for any tractor immediately terminates if any of the following occur:

Section D Item 2 Any replacement parts used on the tractor are other than genuine KIOTI brand parts;
Item 3 Any repair made or parts replaced or modified by anyone other than an authorized KIOTI dealer;

Section H No modification of Warranty

This warranty is the only warranty authorized by KIOTI Tractor for tractors and attachments. Neither the KIOTI authorized distributors, dealers, nor any other party has any authority to make representations on behalf of KIOTI Tractor to modify the terms and limitations of this warranty.

Even if you use Kioti parts and follow the instruction of the dealer you can't replace them without voiding the warranty. Filters are replacement parts. WIX or what ever your preferred brand oil filter are not Kioti parts.
Even if your dealer tells you that any brand Hydraulic oil will do, if it is not in the book as "Kioti" recommended you have likely voided the warranty.

Just my thoughts. Gonna go relax and enjoy using my tractor.:licking:

My dealer gave me a bag of filters and some grease upon signing for the tractor, You reckon he thinks I am going to do that 50 hour myself..

I have two owner's manuals for my 2006 DK45S and they show different maintenance schedules. An older user manual I got from my dealer (it was the one he kept for his shop) showed major items like change hydro fluid and front axle oil at 300 hours. The newer user manual (and also the shop manual) show these same jobs at 400 hours. What's annoying is that there are no dates, version numbers, etc. to identify the different editions of these manuals.

I think the shop and users manuals for the newer models are much better than the manuals for my tractor. I base this in my read of the different manuals on the Australian site (their DK451 appears to be the same as my DK45S). By better, I mean better explanations of the systems and more complete, for example, my manuals (both owners and shop) fail to mention several of the zerk fittings that need grease.

My owners book says filters only but the graf chart shows a dot on change transmission fluid.
