So my phone was dead tonight so no pics or video until tomorrow or Saturday. I am really impressed with the splitter (find it on DR website (3 point dual action)). The dual action is great because we all know our hydraulics on the GC don't have the highest of flow rates....

I was splitting some really wet stuff and it went through it like nothing, I was running about 2500 RPM to get the fluid flow moving. But it will split at idle just incredibly slow.

I'll post a video and pic soon. I had my doubts about the speed but really with being able to split in both directions and the speed being faster than I thought I am really impressed with the little GC.

Sounds pretty sweet. What kind of wood are you splitting? What lengths and widths of logs?

Sounds good. You can always add a tank and PTO pump if you want to speed things up.

For those in Canada, Split-fire makes a dual action log splitter also. I've been in the factory, so I can verify: 100% made in Canada.

They have a nice log-lifter option also, so you can save your back.

**Update pics and videos***

Here is a timelapse, and an actual video of it in use today. I couldn't be happier with the performance. Cut and split a lot of timber today!

thanks for posting. i am researching splitters and i like this one too. seems to go at pretty good speed. i checked the specs on flow for your trqctor and it says 4.3 gpm. my tractor is around 10 gpm.

I've also looked at this... sounds like it SHOULD work on my GC2310, and the sale price is great. OTOH, when needing to split wood, I borrow my brother's engine-powered HD splitter (20+ ton), which is "free"... so far, at least!

Looks like The Flash has nothing on you! Time-lapse very interesting to watch. Thanks for posting!

That's a good one!

It was just watching me and drinking water when I was taking my camera off the mount....never even flinched....

I just had two friends also tell me this particular model is not on the site anymore. I just checked and it’s gone......not sure why.....probably supply chain/license issues, you can find this splitter rebranded on many different sites. Believe Boss badges this same model as well.

As I understand it, DR Mfg was a family (or at least private) start-up in Vergennes, VT. They made very high-quality products, put a lot of thought into them, used a generous amount of "VT know-how," and garnered a pretty good reputation. They gradually increased both their sales and their line(s) of products over the years, but were recently --within the last 2 years or so, I think-- bought out by a much larger national company (Home Products something-or-other, I believe).

Of course, there's now going to be some shifting in their product line. Sadly, I read somewhere that they're now planning to close down the Vergennes (their original location) manufacturing facility. Wonder what all those Vermonters will do for work now....

Anybody have any more info on DR?

Well, I just did some internet searches... seems DR is still alive & well in Vergennes, so not sure where I saw that they might close that facility... but that's a good thing, that they're keeping that open! I also learned that DR is related to Troy-Built tillers, through Lyman P. Wood. Not sure how they moved from Troy, NY to Vergennes, VT. In any case, I like their products and am happy they're still going.

PS-- I also saw that they no longer have that $500 3PH splitter, only a $999 one as their least expensive model.

Is the one they offer now the same model or at least the same specs?

What model is the one you have? I watched you videos and I wouldn't be disappointed with the speed of that. Looks like it works good.

Thanks GC1710. I have a home made splitter on an old Lincoln welding machine trailer chassis that has a 1982 Toyota Tercel engine on it. It can split steel beams, but I can't even get a distributor rotor and other parts from Toyota dealer for it anymore, or any of the local auto parts stores. Don't even know how it still runs because it has zero gap in the points, the cap and rotor are wore and it has more coolant in the oil pan than anything, LOL.

So instead of repowering it I was thinking of getting something I can more easily move around with the tractor.
