Did you notice my oil reservoir for the pump ? I had an old 20# propane tank that I cut in half. Took some 10 guage sheet and welded it to the top where the pump is mounted. I was surprised how much oil to took for a six inch cylinder to press the ram to the end. There is still 2 " to the top plate for additional oil. ( minus the size of the pump under the plate ) It was fine to figure strong than be a pint short and start the process over. I was under the impression by the manufactured pumps with a gallon reserve tank attached it would be all the oil needed for the application. Shows one needs a little math calculation ( or fill and empty the hydraulic cylinder ) to make sure the quanity of fluid is sufficient for your application. I hate doing things twice !
