Recently I rescued two sections of a larger cultipacker being scrapped out. All the tempered angle and channel from the hitch had already been torched off but I managed to save the roller assemblies.

One of the bearing housings was just wore out, literally gone. Any way, when taking apart to rebuild, the bearing housing is octogon shaped with wood splines supporting the shaft. Does anyone know where parts for this vintage equipment is available?

Ken Sweet at sweettractors.com would know.

Sweet Tractors is an advertiser here on TBN, located in Kentucky.

Sweet specializes in used and rebuilt implements and usually has Dunham brand Cultipackers for sale.

Sweet likely has a stock of salvage parts for your Dunham.

I rebuilt a old dunham a couple years ago. I just used a hole saw kit and a table saw to make new wood bushings. I used a piece of oak from the wood pile, but if possible I would use osage orange if availiable.

I have a Dunham cultipacker that looks just like the one you show here....it has the "sprocket" wheels alternating with the smooth packer wheels. I've never taken mine apart - I've just greased the zerks really well and pulled it about.

The main shaft that holds the wheels doesnt rotate too much....as the wheels are not very tight on the shaft and rotate independently from the main shaft. Is the housing that holds the bearing erroded away?? If so, finding an end housing may be pretty tough. Id consider replacing the Dunham housing with a new pillow block bearing - if I were in your shoes.
