Read again, the topic was a tesla towing a trailer up a mountain pass.

I almost regret posting that vid...Almost, the trailer was within the max tow rating of the model X
Range who knows but I didn't see a tow truck

You want answere's?, been looking for years?, been looking real hard?? Stymied??, try Google !

Anything you google will give you the current pc answers for several pages. But you knew that, didn't you?
But explain those periods to us in your own words, based on historical data, not the revised versions the warmers have been throwing out in recent years.

That doesn't look much like a car, you know, the subject of this thread?

You're late to the party Top. Read back to Buick's question I was responding to. Question was something to do with the "fact" that only a few could afford EVs. I gave the base price of the newly introduced Tesla 3 as well as a few other fairly popular vehicles. The LC was just for Houston as that's what he drives along with all the other well off soccer moms.

I saw it, my point was the price of a daily commuter should compare favorably to other daily commuters.

I'm not knocking EV's, they have a place, they are not now nor likely to ever replace other modes of power.

Nobody is arguing that EVs will replace ICE. ICE powered autos didn't completely replace horses and there are good reasons to think that ICE or at least hybrids will be a major part of transportation for a long time to come. Ranchers in Montana and long haul truckers will need ICE for the foreseeable future. Suburbanites across the country may well see a dramatic changeover to EV and hybrid in the next 10 years however. Even Houston is likely to own an EV some day (but not before EVs are cool for his soccer mom buddies).

I think they will remain "in addition to", for the foreseeable future. Like many things when they gain s foothold, many viewed them as a replacement for everything that came before, but like mules didn't replace horse and donkeys, a Prius isn't going to replace my '67 Impala SS! LOL

Bzzzt. Wrong!

This thread is about what consumers need to know before buying an EV. Local circumstances: climate, energy cost, rebates available, distance the vehicle is intended for, adequate dealer service, reliability of the brand - are important for the individual while 'national average source of electrical distribution' is a diversion you threw in because that's what you want to talk about.

I think most of us here are interested in the individual consumer perspective on EV's. In summary gaining personal knowledge, not interested in getting dragged into side debates on whatever you came here to troll, attempting to stir things up just for your own entertainment.

That thread was someone with an EV and charging from the local hydo electric source. What about the EV in the same country charged from coal? Does the CO2 stay in one location or circulate world wide ?

Looks like the CO2 problem will be reduced as more renewable plants come online. Here's an investment analyst's take:

========
Research analysts at Morgan Stanley believe that renewable energy like solar and wind power are hurtling towards a level of ubiquity where not even politics can hinder them. Renewable energy is simply becoming the cheapest option, fast. Basic economics, the analysts say, suggest that the US will exceed its commitments in the Paris agreement regardless of whether or not president Donald Trump withdraws.

We project that by 2020, renewables will be the cheapest form of new-power generation across the globe, with the exception of a few countries in Southeast Asia, the Morgan Stanley analysts said in a report published Thursday.

By our forecasts, in most cases favorable renewables economics rather than government policy will be the primary driver of changes to utilities carbon emissions levels

=======

These guys are betting real dollars on being right. I think their conclusions are persuasive even to those who don't believe in science. Times change. The future is arriving faster than some realize.

And another article. This one's more visionary, it describes a 'maybe' scenario. I think studying these can reveal some opportunities whether or not the scenario proposed comes to pass as described.

No big deal but your first sentence above make you a hypocrite when it comes to correlating topics political in nature...in an open forum...
At any rate...it looks like the ham and egg analyst you quote has been drinking this guy's koolaid..

Al Gore.

I really don't see that as 'political' when I'm citing a well respected investment analysis firm as they talk about profit potential in various segments of the economy.

If you choose to label that analysis a 'belief' that contrasts with your own opinion I think you are missing out on seeing where the world economy is headed.

Those guys are no-nonsense factual analysts, to the extent of the quality of the sources they see and their ability as analysts. Maybe its just my own training (similar) but I consider them factual and accurate. The future will show if they guessed right or not, but they are gambling such big dollars that I think their research is more credible than many other sources.
