From an energy balance perspective, yes. From a cost viewpoint no. Electrolysis is very expensive because of the water processing cost, equipment maintenance and cost of electricity versus cost of fossil fuel.

Efficiency is way up there...Lots of venture capital being spent on R&D to develop more economical processes....

patent on making gasoline out of LP gas and they
were in east Texas and the gas was going to cost
$1.78 and that was the last that I heard of them

So much for Toyota not pursuing improved electric vehicles and staying with hydrogen.


Unless someone finds a way to split hydrogen from water for almost nothing (like Stan Meyer may have) battery electric is the future. Maybe they do have a new proven highly efficient solid state battery.

This underscores why Toyota fire- saled the hydrogen model.
