Lot of engines missing. Compare it to the 2005 list. I haven't had time to look closely, but perhaps the earlier lists contain engines that already meet the spec. While GOOGLING I found a release from Mitsubishi concerning selling engine to Cummins that met teir 2 requirements. The date on the release was 2003.

The Perkins Phaser 1004-4T that's in the larger tractors wasn't made until 2002 in China. What engine are you tallking about?

I guess we'll find out in 2006. I've been importing raw materials from China since 1987. I disagree with you in one area...the Chinese will go to great lengths to improve their manufacturing capabilities. The FarmPro 8240 I have is a perfect example. As for engines and the EPA, like I said, we'll see what happens in 2006. I guess I don't really understand the issue of certificates and no one knowing how to deal with it.

Hey N4807G,

You have a fine Tractor, and I don't think that you have anything to worry about.

People have been issueing scare tactics about the Chinese Tractors, for as far back as i can remember.

The Chinese have caught on to the games that are being played and have realized the Most Important Fact". Sell it for less and they will buy it....

WalMart's has paved the way and there is no stopping them now. It doesn't matter whether it be tractors or anything else.

It won't be long, before the Chinese will be making all the engines for all of the tractors. Because they know, "If They Sell Them For Less, They Will Buy Them"....

As far as the EPA,, They are just another Government Money Sucking Machine. They are not interested in cleaning up anything, much less the environment. All they want is money, and a paycheck, and that is what they will get. In Business, it's all about the money, that's the bottom line, and the Chinese are beating everybody at that game.

The Chinese are no Dumbo's, they will do whatever it takes, to produce and market products cheaper, than anybody else....Period

People flock to WalMarts, Harbor Freight, and the Chinese Tractors for only one reason, and that is to save money, so that they have more money leftover, to manage their other endeavors.

Just my opinion. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Have a nice day,

Here's the telling part: "Next year the EPA plans to crack down hard on imports of non EPA compliant tractors the sad part is that I know companies like Farm Pro or Northern wont get busted. It will be some mom and pop outfit that import a few tractors here and there who will be facing devastation and real prison time. "

It's interesting that you assume Homier and Northern will somehow be able to continue importing emgines that don't meet the EPA requirements. I don't know, that may be. Interesting perspective. I did notice a new distributor/private brand Foton called Johnson, Give him a call, perhaps he has an answer.

http://www.ekjohnson.com/

Looks like he sells the same tractors you sell.

You're right. I was in Shanghai in 1987....what a dump. Today it is as Cosmopolitan as any city on the planet. Company's are falling over each other to establish facilities there. GM and Ford are betting their future on China (literally). It will only be a matter of time before anything with an engine will be made in China, or a similar emerging industrial economy.

China will take over the world. Don't bet against that.

My comment about Northern and Farmpro was referring to the qty exemptions. You are only allowed so many tractors per hp range per year not to exceed a total amount in a 7 year period. I know for a fact they exceeded that in the first year they were in business specifically Farmpro, their first order was more than the 7 year exemption. Any tractor after that was illegally brought into the country.

I agree with Joe about the EPA BS though it will do little to clean the air but adds expense to the whole industry.

I'm sure he's right about the EPA (as are you). Strange business?
