Everlast welders, anybody own one?

Doesn't Longevity still over the first of the month discount? If so that is a really good deal.
I just got a private msg from Longevity. They offer our members a 15% discount. Looks like I'm sold on the SW 250. 15% off of their $495 price brings it to $420 bucks plus shipping which should bring it to around $450 delivered.

Ironnut,
I am not sure if your date is reflecting correctly, but the FIRST post was in 2010, and the last one in the sticky, just a few days ago. We post when we have something to update or announce, not just for banter. I comment almost daily here though in other threads. We ARE and HAVE been active contributors and supporters of this forum, for a while now. Please let us know how we can help you.

Gumshu,
IF you want the 300 we can make it happen. Forget about amazon, because you don't get a discount there for tbn. But you're going to need to double the size of that 30 amp breaker you were talking about yesterday. You'll need to go to that heavier gauge then. Same as with the 250stickweld from our competitor...I can promise you the 300 won't disappoint against anyone's machine...our competitor here included.

Hi Mark... lots to think about. I was kind of decided on the PA 200 until I saw reviews and the price of the SW 250. I still haven't purchased. Please PM me on the PA 300. Thanks

They are still active on this site, Mark post's quite regularly. I have a PA160 and like it very much.. You will get a lot of comments by asking is the Everlast product any good. There are those of us that own them and like them.. then there are those who hate them. Of course they don't own them, or have never welded with them. They hate them because of the country of origin, and they believe the importer is doing unfair business practices. They hate them because they believe that they are helping drive American brands down the tubes. They hate them because they are not Blue or Red. For some joyful reading just post your question in google. and go to all the welding forums..you will get an earful. To the best of my knowledge they are a good product.. I sure am happy with mine, and many user's on here that own and use them are happy.. There have been several shipped that come broken, in transit, As far as I know and from what I can read they have been replaced. They are much cheaper than Blue or Red, and they are made in China. They seem to weld beautifully, and they along with anything made in China is hated, and especially so in the welding community. If you buy one and say you like it you will be hated too. So for safety's sake you should stick with Red or Blue. You have opened a can of worms, let the comments begin.

There is a bit more to the issue than that. Any company can send out a bad product from time to time, the issue is how that company deals with it.. i.e. customer service. This thread appeared on a welding forum. It was NOT in one of the sponsored forums, or it would have been promptly deleted...

Just an FYI for welding equipment buyers..

As usual there are two sides of the story. The customer told his story the way he wanted to tell it. We offer a 30 day satisfaction policy at the time of purchase. If there is a problem with an unit the customer can take advantage of it under our guidelines. This customer chose not do it that way. But in general WW has lost a lot of credibility over the last few years, especially since they have allowed certain "bullies" to run rampant and dog pile on new members. They ban and delete people, even with good experience for the slightest infraction, then allow others to have free reign when it serves their purpose. There are a number of "good" posts that have been made from genuine customers that were immediately deleted when they were in the open part of the forum. The only posts you will find there are the negative ones. Many, many more posts have been deleted from completely satisfied customers in the open forum. And no we don't just delete a negative post. We do delete the sideline comments though from time to time. But here we don't have any editing powers. Been on here two years and sold many many units to customers here. It's a large enough sample (100's?) to know if it was a routine thing that happened or not. People would let you know. Won't say everyone has perfect product experience. But most do. We do try our best to work with any customer with a valid problem.

I don't know that all sections of WeldingWeb have lost their credibility, but the sponsored forums certainly have none. I have not seen people deleted, or any of the other behavior over there as you suggest. MillerWelds has their own forum, and a few Everlast "customers" (shills) showed up over there for no other purpose than to create mayhem. I wonder if you or your company know anything about that behavior? You say you work with customers who have a valid problem, which begs a few questions.. Who determines the "validity" of a problem? And, are some problems invalid, and what's the difference?
In any case, I've softened my position on imports a bit. Perhaps some folks cannot afford the name brand stuff, even though I consider a quality tool an investment rather than an expense, but I recognize that not everyone thinks as I do. I also believe that the Chinese CAN produce a quality product if forced to by the entity contracting with them. But, this does not include an importer merely adding their own name to a Chinese machine. That said, there are pretty decent imported machines out there... Thermal Arc comes to mind. A nice machine at an attractive price, but again, I don't believe that Thermadyne is just applying their name to that machine.

The problem is as with most of these posts, is to assume things that aren't known first hand. I don't delete threads or posts unless they are off topic to getting things resolved with a customer. What is the deleted is the off hand comments inflamatory comments just as can be plainly seen in the link you posted. Shills? Not since I have been here since early 2009. No one is paid for their posts or comments. I suppose these guys here in this thread are as well? We ask customers to tell people if they like there welders that is all...and they are free to tell them if they don't as well.

As far as a valid problem, as is posted in our warranty section, we establish a problem with the customer through technical support, if the customer feels there is one. At one time we were getting high % of returns that had nothing wrong with them for repair. A lot were "panic" returns thanks to the lots of people trying to "scare" them into thinking something was wrong. IN any case the first course of action was to blame the unit. (which I don't mean to say there wasn't ever anything wrong). We had to establish a course of action through on the phone diagnosis before an RA is issued for the customer if he feels something is wrong. It has cut down in a huge way in customer complaints and warranty load. Many calls for problems are easily resolved over the phone.

fyi, some of our product comes from the same factories TA uses to "brand" their name on a product. We were importing a product in before they brought it over btw. They are using stock product from the factory catalog.

This past year during, before and after our manufacturing runs we have been with "boots on the ground" in our factory with product development, manufacturing quality control, and testing. Our physical presence in the factory has exceeded 4 months of time last year, if I remember right. This year it may push more. But with 600-800 units per month in the US alone (or more at seasonal times), along with Canada, Australia, Europe and S. American Everlast partners it is going to grow. We have heavy and continual investment and time in our "contracted" factories to produce a product. It hasn't been without bumps or errors, but no company can claim that either.

Dang, I just bought a migweld 140 from them and didn't see a thing about any discount!
What kind of show are they running over there?
I seems to me they would at least post some of the discount somewhere?
WTH?
I'll remeber that in the future...I'll have to get the discount for this purchase An\ND the next one just to be thier customer!

Keep smilin'!

I've helped Mark make a few sales. The cheap sum beach won't even give me a freaking ball cap!

Only experience I have with Everlast machines is my PA-200. I can honestly say it is one of the nicest SMAW machines I've ever used! If you know anything about welding machines, just look at my signature, I have some of the best welding machines ever made in the USA! Personally I think I'm qualified to say when a machine is worth it's salt or not. Your opinion may differ!;)

I have also convinced a few people to get an Everlast, and I am not a shill either. I haven't gotten a thing from Everlast, or anyone else for recommending their products. My little green box has welded perfectly both stick and scratch start TIG for 2 years now, without a hiccup, Sure I don't weld every day, and I have NO credentials in the welding field at all. I am just a hobbyist and have to fix things occasionally. For me a $269 welder was a bargain if if broke in 2 pieces right now. I have gotten my moneys worth, But it welds and welds and welds. Worked right out the the box. I am not saying their welders are all going to do that, for all I know maybe half of them are broken when the owners get them. That thread on Welding Web did not paint a very pretty picture. All I can talk about is my welder and my experience. And so far it has been a very good one..
