FEL lubrication - has to be a better way

LNL and a pneumatic pail greaser is my goto
Centralized grease systems are fine for non rotational parts. They won't work on anything where the fittings rotate like universal joints. Have them on my hay balers, still have to manually grease the drivelines. The other issue with them is, if you have a fitting that won't take grease, you only find out AFTER the component failed.

Lock N lubes work well but a good quality regular tip is ok especially when you know how to adjust it. For lever action guns I prefer a rigid pipe instead of a hose. If you need/want the hose then a pistol grip gun works better. Lincoln makes good guns at an affordable price. An electric grease gun might be useful if you're maintaining a fleet but is overkill for a single tractor. I've never had a problem getting my Lincoln guns primed after installing a new cartridge.

The better way is... Don't ever grease the loader and when the pins seize, beat then out and replace them. Issue solved.

i found i was overgreasing them. after having to disassemble entire loader to clean out the dried grease, i dont grease them as often or as much anymore. no reason to have globs of grease hitting the window.

Using a flathead screw driver, I run it against the FEL (and backhoe) pivot points and around the recest Zerks to remove the extra grease that accumulated there. Am I asking for trouble or is it fine?

You must drive awfully fast to have 'globs of grease' fly off and impact your windows..... :p What I do is dismount my loaders (both of them) every fall and pressure wash the excess grease off using a bit of ZEP degreaser to loosen it up.

Like I said, quit greasing it entirely and when the pivot pins lock up, pound them out and replace with new ones. Issue solved. Some of my implements have dozens of grease fittings, they all get greased quite often. Grease is cheap, replacing worn components from lack of lubrication usually isn't so cheap.

I don’t grease too often, and don’t use a lot of grease when I do. I also have never had to replace anything. Nothing freezes up or wears out. Just saying

I stick to the factory recommended schedule of every 10h on the FEL, and 50h on every other grease point on the body.

The tip on your rubber hose is adjustable. Back off on the locking nut - screw the tip down a little. The tip will then lock on the zerk and not fall off.
Easier said than done when the zerk is recessed and the tip & your fingers are covered with grease. :(
Been meaning to get a L&L, one of these days...

Oaktree, I have a 3054xs and the L&L tip will not fit into the zerk recesses on the loader {KL1231}, gave mine away
