Hi guys, I have a couple of questions for all the GC owners out there in snow country. First, I am the proud and happy owner of a 2008 GC2610:D. Well we had about 9 inches of heavy wet slop yesterday:eek:. My tractor has the R4 industrial tires and I found that they did a lot of sliding around, my tires are not loaded and I have the backhoe on for rear weight. Chains on R4's? Wheel weights? Wounderd the thoughts of the experts:)

Have it's Orange cousin, Yup, BX, R4s (Kubota's version) and no chains.

Plowed 12-14" yesterday, about a half mile worth of plowing. Wet heavy snow. I plow with blade, of course. I had no issues whatsoever, although I do have heavy wheel weights, but your backhoe outweighs that considerably.

Local variables make it difficult to compare. Hope you find some solutions to your liking.

I think your snow down there was wetter than what we got, but I did find that my tractor would slip around some... the few times that happened, I just kicked in the 4WD and that took care of it. Just the nature of this particular type of snow, I suspect.

I also have turf tires, which I've found work very well on the driveway-- but since I have a blower, I'm never driving it in deep snow. (I doubt the turfs would go very far in that case.)

What are you using- the FEL, a blade, or do you have a blower? I believe the blower makes a huge difference, as I'm never driving in the snow, and don't have a problem with a large buildup in front of a blade or FEL. It works.:D

I'm using the FEL. I have always used chains and extra weigh on my other tractors, but they were 2wd. Yes, the snow was comming out of the bucket almost clear, so it was mostly water. A sowblower on this stuff would just cloged it up or churned it to be water. I have a 6 1/2 ft snow plow that I was thinking of making a mount for the FEL but it is heavy steel, so would need even more counter weight. My driveways are such that the FEL works well for clearing due to all the jigs and jogs. Thanks for all the input
