While the BX is a nice machine, if you JUST want to cut grass and already have an L-series to handle tractor work, then its PTO & 3 pt. hitch aren't much benefit worth paying for. Cutting semi-large amounts of grass is something that premium GTs are very good at if the operator doesn't want a ZTR for whatever reason--as much as some people don't want to admit that premium/super GTs have their place in the market.

Which is why I am having such a hard time with this. My riding mower is dying on me and I could really use 4wd. Based on specs, the GR2110 rocks and is what I would buy when I am ready to spend $$$. However, based on what I have read, this thing has a hard time getting out of its own way. 4wd and bar tires, this thing should climb walls... but I am hearing it struggles on hills.

Not being able to cut the grass is just over the top stupid.

<sigh>

So I started looking at a BX with a mower deck. Figured I couldn't go wrong there. I still may get a BX, but I do think it is a little overkill for a riding mower. The extra $$$ isn't that big of a deal... but when the GR2110 was at $8k already, an extra couple grand is starting to get into crazy money for a riding mower.

Oh well, maybe 0% will still be around after my big one is paid for... :D

The feedback on the GRs has been rather spotty, shall we say, which is really surprising given Kubota's reputation of their other fine products. Don't really understand it.

The X700 series from Deere are very high priced as well, but at least the feedback on those units has been very glowing. Which takes us back to a BX. Perhaps it is overkill, but isn't priced much different than a JD X7xx and perhaps that is more the comparison? Don't know what to say. Good luck in your search and decision making.

Different strokes for different folks.
My GR2110 doesn't cut grass well - it will, however, climb a hill (with heavy load) without hesitation.

Not sure I follow the different strokes... I'm pretty much in agreement with what has been said in this thread. Some GR2110s don't cut grass well. Some GR2110s don't climb hills well. That is frustrating for me because the specs on the GR2110 are awesome...

I am sure this is a stupid question but since it seems to be a stupid problem...
Are you sure the center blade is rotating the correct way? It almost sounds like the blade is either upside down (obvious to see) or it has the opposite rotation of the other two.

I don't know anything about this mower but I think you would have to try hard to have a cut that bad:confused2:

1* Our Kubota dealer showed us his ZT models, but strongly recommended that my wife opt for the GR2110. We followed his advice, but I'm now thinking it was a big mistake.
1*
I'd have to agree with you .

Push Kubota to buy it back and get a BX. I had a GR2100 and had many issues. I had mine for over a year and got about 90% of my money back from kubota and got a BX2660.
2*The GR line is not up to Kubota Brand standards. IMO
2*I believe you .

The BX1860 is a much sweeter tractor than a GR2110 for about the same or less money.I agree,
3* the BX1860 is a more capable tractor than the GR2110, but not for the same money, and definetly not for less money.
How do you figure?
4*Last time I priced simiallary equipped GR2120 and simiallary equipped BX1860, the BX1860 was at least +$2000.

3* and 4* Sorry i was thinking of a G series not the GR

Hmmmmmmm.
5* LBrown uses "new math"? ;)
5*Nope I was comparing the wrong tractor with the BX8160

My uncle had the same issues. He has a 30ish HP JD with a FEL and had mowed with a 6' rear finish mower for 5 years and no issues. He then wanted a smaller machine and got the GR and it sucked. Kubota ended up taking it back and he got a Kubota diesel ztr with a 60" deck and is a happy camper.

One other thing is the 14,000 rpm is too slow. My neighbor is a commercial mower and he just told me all his equipment is in the 18,000 up rpm range.

Dealer sent out a ZT and BX this morning for me to try out on my overgrown grass. Both performed well - much better than my GR2110. In fact, got a better cut with the older BX (vs ZT) - it had a set of new blades though. The ZT was faster (for sure), but I'm not really looking for ground speed - just a quality cut. My wife (the grass cutter), was also impressed with the BX and indicated a preference for it over the ZT.

If the dealer can get Kubota to take back my GR2110, think I'll move up to either a BX2360 or BX2660. Beside using it as a mower, I could easily attach some of my other smaller implements bought with my L5740 - e.g., cultipacker, seed/fertilizer spreader, chemical sprayer, utility cart, etc. Just need a Land Pride quick hitch to make such attachments easy. In addition, although I can maneuver though the trails on my property (20ac of woods) with my L, a BX series tractor would definitely make my chores easier.
