No. I think that one is too big for the Panama Canal.

Moss is correct, Panamax is somewhat smaller. These Ever Green boats are quite large.

Little industrial history about the Panama canal. When we started the digs there, no one could figure out what size to make the canals. Years later they decided to make them large enough for the new class of ships being being built in Belfast Ireland. They there the Titanic and her sisters, the Britannic and Olympic. I read that same thing about power on the day it happened. From then on, I've only seen reference to high winds.

Many large ships cannot do any maneuvering on their own. No Bow thrusters, One screw and engine that has to be reversed. Everything has to be done with tugs.

I'm shocked that heavy winds have never been a problem on the canal before, possibly mandating passage by tug escort only. And what of original reports of power failure?

Many of the modern ocean going ships have thrusters and I'd guess all of the largest class do on there bows and sterns. In this photo the star looking round emblem painted on the front, mark the bow thrusters. So these ships have two up front. I'd guess each are powdered with at least a 5000hp engine
