Comparison Help me choose. Kubota L6060 vs Mahindra 2555

Between those two models the OP is comparing:

That Mahindra (built by TYM in S Korea) will lift more. That Mahindra has a bigger cab. That Mahindra will have bigger tires. That Mahindra will have a better warranty.

That Kubota has better fit and finish. That Kubota has a much better transmission with advanced user options. That Kubota will have a much more advanced instrument display including speed info, PTO RPM's, etc. That Kubota will have more PTO horsepower and hydraulic flow.

Good luck to the OP, they are both good tractors, but I find that Kubota to be much more refined than TYM machines. Personally, Between those two tractors I would pick that Kubota.

But I'd also pick a Massey 1758 over both of them!

Thanks!

Now I'll step out of this conversation as I don't think the original poster really wants to hear a bunch of talk from a dealer. Unbiased comments from tractor owners are valuable, even if I do not agree with some of them.

While we may have a different viewpoint, I and I'm sure others have learned some interesting things from your posts. Not manyhave showed up on this thread, but I know there are quite a few happy TBN members who love their Mahindras.

For the OP, the Kubota is the nicer-better machine, not really any doubt about that. The thing is, is it $8000 better in YOUR mind and are you willing to pay for that nicer machine? Only you can say. Good luck with your decision. ;)

Resale was mentioned, I bought a Mahindra 7520 back in Dec of 2004. Took delivery of it March 2005. It took the dealer awhile to get everything painted for me. Anyway, 8 years later, JD sends me a card wanting me to purchase one of their tractors. No surprise there, what I was surprised about was that they knew what tractor I had (Mahindra 7520) and that they offered me $2000 more than what I had paid for it. So either I had purchased really really well, or the tractors do indeed hold their value.

I don't care either way, the tractor works great for me and I have had-have no intentions of selling it. Another thing that always gets me is the people always saying that they sold their (name brand) tractor for more money than a lesser competitors same size machine that they had seen. Well, I hope so, you paid more for it up front also. I wish that people would talk percentages instead of $$$ amounts.

One last thing, these things are definitely regional, what one sees as common in one area may not even be known or thought of in another. Not saying right or wrong, just the way things are. There is no doubt about that in my mind anyway.

Just my :2cents:.

Don't think anyone wants you to step out DavesTractor. You seem like a good guy and have some valuable info. We're all just voicing our different opinions.
I'm sure the original poster appreciates your input.

If considering a Mahindra built by TYM I would also check out the TYM badged machine. My experience when shopping last was TYM offered more on basically the same machine for less money. Could end up being more than an 8000 dollar savings with the TYM machine

Talking resale I have heard over and over again the same argument from people with all kinds of products from cars to motorcycles to tractors. Fact is most of the time when I start asking in depth questions and putting things together the percentages don't work out. One of my friends used to give me a hard time about some of the lower priced trucks and motorcycles that I have owned but one day we sat down and did the math on his more expensive toys and he was surprised that when everything was considered from actual purchase price, maintenance, repair right on down to tires I came out on top every time.

Good luck with your decision.

I'm wanting your true thoughts. Is the Kubota worth the extra money? I like it more but we are looking at about 8.000 more than the Mahindra. Both are Cab tractors with loader.

Yes. The Kubota is worth the extra money. The Mahindra is an OK tractor, but, it is not a Kubota. And, me personally, I try not to give China any of my money when I have the choice.

SO why is it worth more?

What makes you think they are Chinese made?

I personally don't see anything with the Kubota that is worth 8000 dollars more!

I to am in the market for a new tractor I have looked at the Kubotas and they look light to me. I like the look of the mahindras but like so many on here they scare me for various reasons. I live in Maryville Tn I have 2 Kubota dealers close to me. And a Mahindra dealer down the road the doesn't do warranty work. Mmmm wonder why. I'm still looking almost everything is made overseas. I might just buy me a Old Ford or Massey but I'm still looking.

I'm not sure its possible to do a good apples to apples with an L6060 and anything from Mahindra's line. Its kinda a super landscape class tractor. I can say, that in Kubota land you can buy a small M-series tractor for all but the price of the L6060 if your after the big & heavy kinda design. Lots of options, some more money.. some a lot less too.

I would not buy any brand from a dealer that does not do warranty and service. You can't be a Mahindra dealer and not do warranty or service, so that does not really pass the smell test.

If I didn't need a loader I would gladly own an old JD, Massey, Ford, or Case. Heck, I still want one to mow with. IMO the old 2wd tractors are lacking in the loader department. If you want something big and heavy the old tractors certainly fit the bill.

It looks like you own a nice stable of Kubota products. They build nice stuff. The KX71 is sure a nice little mini-x. But your China comments demonstrate a lack on knowledge regarding Mahindra for sure. Mahindra does not sell Chinese made tractors in the USA. They own a plant in China, like most manufacturers do as China has a huge market for tractors and in China they don't mind buying Chinese quality...In the USA market, the smaller units (38HP and down) are built in Japan or Korea, the larger units are built in India or Korea, depending on the model.

Where do they build their 35 series machines? I was under the impression that they had their own factory in India for those...

The old 35 series and new 3500 series are Mahindra built machines in India.

Yes, I do stand corrected. My fault for not reading the entire article. Apparently, Mahindra is making a big investment in the US. I definitely think much better of them, now.
