Help me decide - X595 vs. X728

Wow, something doesn't seem right. My quote for a 2305 was about $1K LESS than comparably equipped x700. Except the 2305 included the 3pt, rear pto and ROPS too! Made it a no-brainer. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I come up with a list price of $12,270 for a 2305 with 54C MMM. That's only 2 grand more than the X595 and you should be able to get the dealer down from list. I paid $11,200 for the same setup plus $2,500 for the fel.

I was also considering an X-series and because the prices were so close and the 2305 could do so much more that's the direction I went and I'm very happy with it. I only have an acre of land and yes it's overkill but it mows great and it's capable of so much down the road.

I would either go with the X595 because of the diesel or go with the 2305. Resale was also a factor in my decision in case I am forced to sell in the near future.

I looked up the specs on the X728, and answered my own question. That is:
you are giving up the diesel if you go to the X728. Kinda gathered that when reading the others' responses.

I'd go with the X595 if making a choice between the two. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

wxboy,

Cheapest price I can find here in Southern NH is $14,050 for the 2305 w/54"MMM, 200CX Loader and Ballast. Mind if I ask where you bought yours?

Not answering your question on "vs."... however, unless you have specific reasons... absolutely go with the 2210 or 2305. More machine for the money. Also opens more options for you down the road.... like a FEL or ??? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

From what I've heard, the NH dealers don't discount very much. The MSRP on that package is $15183. So it is discounted some, but probably $900 higher than other states.

That's what I figured. Maybe I can find a better deal in a neighboring state and pick it up myself.

Go new and get the new warrenty. If you like smelling diesel fumes all day as you use it, get the diesel! Either way... you are looking at getting a Deere and that's okay! You will get years of use out of either purchase. Enjoy!
Cheers, MIKE

Actually, the only time you really smell anything diesel, is when filling the tractor, or if you were to use it in a closed area. Today's diesels are leaps and bounds more efficient then yesterday's. My wife hates getting stuck behind a smelly old bus, but has never complained about any of my diesel tractors.

I already answered the question (see previous post), but if you're open to other machines then I would jump all over a 2305 and not look back.

Yep, it's a bit more. But, they have 3 year 0% financing (if that is a factor) right now. Yep, it will do a WHOLE BUNCH more. 3 point, rear PTO, diesel, full warranty, loader, ROPS.

I'm not an owner of a 2305, yet. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Mine will have the 200CX loader, a 62C MMM. I would really reconsider the 54" vs. 62" deck, the turning radius on the 2305 is really good - if you have trees or landscaping to maneuver around it may be helpful.

I don't understand the comment about material collection? My understanding is that they are releasing a powerflow system that will house the bag system on the 3 point. I think this will be similar to what you find on a X series. My preference would be to have it run off of the rear PTO (it's there, why wouldn't you want to USE it?). Don't limit yourself to just JD when thinking material collection. I know trac vac makes a PTO powered system too.

As far as over kill goes, I have 1.5 acres. I have landscaping to do, I have yard to mow twice per week, my property is tree lined and they drop lots of leaves. Could I get away with something smaller? Yes. Would I regret it at some point down the road? Absolutely.

Just like tools, I'm too cheap to buy the wrong stuff. Buy the right thing the first time - you'll be better off in the long run.

In term of wx's prices - you're only $300 away from his price. IMHO it's worth that to buy local.

Good Luck!

Scott
