Help! need a coupler

   / Help! need a coupler #11
Here is an update. First, trying to find something over the Thanksgiving weekend was problematic. I wound up at the nearest TSC, found an adapter (Pioneer 4069-4) that was labeled 'Interchange Adapter for Compact Tractors'. Problem is they only had 1. So on to the next TSC store (Another 25 miles), where they had 2. Tried them and neither end fit the equipment. Wasted a beautiful day in the process.

Monday, I went to a hydraulics shop near where I work. They told me the cheapest way was to change the end on the hoses and sold me a nipple to fit the tractor and a 1/2" to 3/8" reducer. But on my first attempt (with small tools), I was not able to budge it. Is this feasable for me to do? What sort of tools do I need? Should I look for an adapter instead, regardless of it being more expensive?

Thanks for the help,
Glen

Two large cresent wrenches.. Remove the ends from both cable, the tractor and the implement, take them to hydraulic store and ask the make em mate.

You can always have the hydraulic shop make you two short hoses with a nipple at one end that fits your tractor and the larger implement sized coupler at the other end. If you don't want to change the couplers on the tractor to a more common size you might as well get the hoses made since you'll probably run into this every time you try to borrow or rent any equipment.
