Thanks for voicing your concern, Harry. I asked the plumbers about the lid setup I was going to put on and they said that the well will get air. I wasn't really sure how and from where unless it can draw air from the ground or something, but they said not to worry about the lid being too tight and in many cases they set lids on Styrofoam insulation for a better seal. That wouldn't work for me because I have a couple chips in the top of the casing. that's why I wrapped the rubber outside instead of laying it on the lip like a normal gasket.
The bottom of the concrete lid is quite smooth and it's a pretty good seal. I'll ask the boss tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up.
