High temp grease in gearbox?

/ High temp grease in gearbox? #11
I've no experience with using grease in gearboxes but high temp grease would have a tendency to channel meaning that if you packed a gearbox full of high temp grease once the gears turn they would push aside excess grease that is in the way and create a open channel to run through..
The additional grease would provide no benefit.
A lightweight grease that would flow in & around the gears when it warms up would seem to be the better choice in my opinion.
Actually I do recall years ago that regular grease was used to hold roller bearings in place for assembly when a full complement of rollers was used (no cage to separate and contain them) in a transmission lubricated with oil. This resulted in failure because it blocked oil channels and prevented the oil from reaching the bearing.
Vaseline is used in the assembly of transmissions with a full complement of rollers because it melts at very low temperatures and allows lubricant into the bearings.
