Interesting. In a way, it really doesn't matter as most people buying these trucks have no business and never will tow that much weight.

IDK about that. When we bought our horse camper, the trailer salesman assured me that our F250 could pull it just fine. He was right, it pulled it okay but I could feel the rear end give on very gentle curves. I had it weighed, and we were 300# over the rated rear axle weight, without water or a horse in the camper! :(

So we upgraded to a C3500 (one ton dually) which handles it well.

There are always people who will overload whatever ratings they have.

Here is a 350 series real world test that was just published. Nothing has changed with the spec wars. Been going on forever and will continue til the end. Happens in every segment and every industry. Cell phone industry is the most cutthroat.

I fully understand your point, I would rather have a little too much than not enough. Every truck I buy has the towing package, though now that I no longer farm as heavy, i only tow 4-5 times a year, maybe 6k lbs max. I like the additional oil coolers also, I feel they provide longevity to the equipment. I was mainly referring to the folks that use them to run around in, we have all seen them- more of a status symbol than a tow vehicle.

You're just saying that because you are a Ford fan!

Do we need to call 911 so that they can remove the person who is holding a gun to your head forcing you to read this thread?

Its pretty funny in the comments below the video people noticed the Ford is towing a different trailer. That's the first thing I noticed at the end of the video. Some people were saying its lighter. Its kind of hard to see in the video but if you go back and look the Ford does have a different trailer behind it. Does it make a difference? Who knows but its not a very good test, more of a rough seat of the pants opinion than scientific results.

I saw that as well, but they did note the weight was the same. I could see a difference if the aerodynamics were different. It's amazing what a bit more slope will do to make towing a fifth wheel easier, especially at speeds approaching 70 MPH. I can't wait to see the pickuptrucks.com test coming out in a few weeks. There tests are usually very comprehensive, and have a lot of 'real-world' aspects to them.
