How much does my truck weigh?

Sounds way light. My F250 weighs over 7000 lbs. Taking garbage in and out of different transfer stations, it has been weighed outbound many times.

I called my dealer and he said the build sheet says 4177 pounds. Does that sound right? I see guys here talking about 6, 7 & 8000 pound trucks. That is what got me to the question. Here are the specs.

2007 GMC 2500HD 4X4
extended cab
79 inch bed
6.0 V-8
gcwr = 16,000 lbs
gvwr = 9,200 lbs

No way. It's every bit of 6000#.

My F150 is 5700# and my F350 SRW is 7600#.

the easy way to know what your truck weighs is to drive it accross a truck scales.that will tell you exactly what your truck weighs.

I did find a decal that said to "never exceed passenger and cargo weight of 3069 lbs". If I subtract that number from the GVWR of 9,200 I get 6131. Could that be the actual weight of the truck?

Thats probably the closest number.

What I was pulling up online was just generic for the year and model.

Lots of things change weights. Options like power windows power lock, power seats, cloth vs leather, hitch or not, etc etc.

Those things can vary the weight a good bit. I am guessing the numbers I found online were a stripped down version of a 4x4 ex cab.

Chevy's are typically a few hundred pounds lighter with the IFS vs solid front. Plus the curb weight is an empty truck. You are scaling with it whatever you have in there. Tools, junk, yourself, etc.

Bed empty at that point. a few tools, I am skinny and my dog only weighs 35 lbs. Maybe an empty Snickers wrapper or two, or three or four.... So, it is around 7000+ lbs. Oh, a few Burger King bags in there as well unless the wife has done an inspection lately.

I've got the exact same truck in Chevrolet flavor. I've never weighed it but I always figured around 6K empty. With my fat rear end in it and tool box and other stuff I just add 500#and go with 6500#.

Hit the local grain scales or DOH truck scales. Local grain scales is where I got my exact tractor weight(+/- 20 lbs).

I will sit corrected, then. I understood it to be totally empty, but I will go with full.

Even if its not a diesel it still seems light. My '14 crewcab shortbed 1500 weighs ~5300 and a little change coming out of the dump with half tank a dog and my 190lb butt.

Mine is right about 7 according to the gin's scales. It is an 07 ext cab 4wd with 8' bed.

Ive got an 03 1500HD 6.0 vortec 4x4 crew cab. The only thing I've added was a set of aluminum step rails and a 5th wheel hitch. It's been awhile, but when I ran it across the scales without the hitch, I think mine weighed 5810

When I step into my truck its only a 150 lbs, at least until I take my other foot of the ground.
