EXILED, Sorry to hear of your dissapointments. I agree with everyone else don't take it out on John Jeere or the tractor. The 5300 is agreat machine. I also bought used and my dealer was great on delivery and service. Some dealers look at it as a used machine and just treat it as such. But to you and I it is a new and exciting investment. My buddies at work all rib me about my tractor and how I wash it and care for it. don't let it bother you. Hey its saturday go out and wash it and use it and enjoy. After you get some seat time in it you will feel much better. You have bought a great machine i'm envyous. I would like to have a barn full of every brand. (my wife thinks I'm nuts) HAVE A GREAT DAY!! dont let an unproffesional salesman get you down. FRENCHIE.

This sounds like an unfortunate series of events leading up to some buyers remorse. I guess you have to ask yourself if you are just plain sorry that you bought that tractor.

I guess I would talk to the manager some more, in as calm a manner as possible. Does your bill of sale say "as is, as shown"? If not then I think you have the right to make some assumptions. While you couldn't expect them to service the tractor unless you specified that in the agreement, change fluids, and filters, etc., I think that you could assume that they would pressure wash it, and check fluid levels, etc. I would also expect that they wouldn't use "your" tractor after the agreement, and deposit.

It's too bad that you waited some time to deal with it, but I can understand, given work pressures, and the excitement of getting the tractor. My state has a grace period after major purchases, to cover those situations where major items are bought under impulse, and then regretted, etc. Perhaps your state does too? Still, talking to the manager /owner is your best recourse. I would be as honest, and calm with them at this point as you would like them to be with you. Admit that you were upset, but talk towards a positive resolution of your situation. They really don't want to lose a customer, and they certainly don't want a bad taste about their dealership circulated on the internet, and in your area. You are in business too, think about how you would want a customer to deal with the things you are feeling, and also think about what you would be willing, or not willing to do for that person given the right approach. If you made a mistake, you don't have to tell us, but be honest with yourself.

Your post takes this converstion to new places thank you. !st and foremost. I do not regret buying green. Nor do I regret buying that machine. I just dont see someone giving me $16,000 and I treat them this way. Dude knows I'm coming back to buy a haycutter, rake, and bailer. No not this week, and maybe not this year. I hope it is this summer I'll just have to see if cattle drops anymore or start coming back up. If your into this busness than your aware just how much where talking about. $16000 will barely cover a used new bailer.

No my bill just says as is. I dont assume anything. It just never dawned on me that I would have to wait for somebody to do nothing at all or that I could buy a machine from a dealer that was low on fluids. See thats the point. The name John Deere stands on its own. It does'nt need a pencil pusher to move it's products. How do you sell something to someone and dont even check to see if it's fluids are full?
I did'nt waste any time dealing w/ it. I just brought the tractor home yesterday. I know the manger was'nt there yesterday. Cause I was going to ask him what was the "meaning" of getting a tractor "ready" while I waited for the saleman to find the pins for my brand new mx6 cutter that should have been already "ready". I want my customers to tell me if I did or did'nt do something that bothered them. I did'nt ask for he saleman to throw anything in for free. I did'nt bother him for a hat. I did'nt try to talk his price down. I'm not asking for anything I did'nt pay for. It is crappy busness to sell anything that is'nt suitable under a banner that states its products are better than any other.
No I have'nt made a mistake. If I make a mistake I'll say so. I cant even say I made the mistake of doing busness w/ a bad dealership. I had no way of knowing that this was going to go down like this. I live and I learn. The mistake was on their part. I will tell everybody. I'm a supervisior at a grain elevator. Thats right there is alot of green blooded farmers that I see everyday. I'm talking farmers that truely trust me. Monday morning I'll even call the busness burue.

Brother, your words are kind, and most inportantly true. I should be bushhogging some sage grass and briars but I got a good rain last night and I dont need to rut up the field. I dont want to make it rough for the guy that cuts my hay for me. I'm looking forward to getting out there and taking a load of his shouldrs this year.
I'd rather have a barn full of green equiment. All kinds. Spreaders, rakes, cutters, planters, harrows, diggers, or heck anything you can use on a tractor.

It looks like you did not make it to Arab for a price check. I'm guessing they must be 67 miles from home. JC

I did'nt make it to Arab. Time just did'nt prement. Yes Arab is everybit of 67 miles. I have Coker's phone# too, I just did'nt get around to call them. You better believe that if I buy green hay stuff I'm driving the 67 miles. Really it's further than 67 miles. Morgan city is 65 miles away.

I feel for ya, Exiled. My dealership was a bunch of jerks too. They called me 8 months after I bought the tractor about an outstanding work order. I told them that I gave up in disgust six months ago. It drains the soul to deal with people like that. I moved on and I love my tractor.

I understand you had already invested a lot of time getting this deal done, but despite that, I would have refused to take delivery of the tractor if your description of events is accurate. Instead, I would have launched into a 30 minute diatribe detailing how offended I was that they thought I was such an idiot that they could trample all over me while I was trying to spend many thousands of dollars with them. That is absurd. Based on their actions(no pre delivery fluid checks, using my property as a workhorse on their property prior to proper break in, etc..) I would assume it to be fact that the equipment has been thoroughly abused pre break in by these idiots. They should give you a new unit, unmolested by them and their incompetent associates. Further, they should throw in several hundred dollars worth of free accessories to compensate you for their blatant abuses of common freaking sense. My $.02.

ETA- I apologize for my lack of reading comprehension. It appears that you bought a used unit. Please disregard my comments pertaining to the pre break in use of the unit, as it was already broken in. I stand by everything else I said. Instead of a new unit to replace a used one, they should reduce the purchase price proportional to your hassle.

Dang I was getting really happy. I would have left this experance smelling like a rose. Just the thought of buying a used tractor and ending up with a new one. Man what a joy that would have been.

Dear exiled, find out who deeres sales and marketing representitive is for your area and yawl on his ear for awhile. Then shortly you should be getting a call from your dealer wanting to know how he can make you green forever. Beleive me i was raised green on a 1800 acre dairy . They are not rated number 1 world wide for nothing. I have had some shabby dealings with a dealer to. These kind of dealers usually start with the appearence of there facilitys. But you try what i said and you will get a quick response.
