Exiled,
Am I missing something on this thread? You bought used, I assume with no warranty as is? Unless you paid top dollar the more time a dealer spends on a used machine the more $$$ they need to get for it. In the end you pay more.

Life is to short !!!! Move on and enjoy the tractor!!!! :) Call the dealer and start laying the ground work fpr deals on implements, remind him you did not get the red carpet treatment on this purchase and he should not get the green $$$ carpet treatment on the implement sale to you. :)

exiled, I know exactly how you feel! I've been in those situations where you go thru one agravating situation after another over the coarse of some activity. With each one, you expect (hope) it will be the last, but it doesn't stop. Then you just want to get it over with. After that comes the time of reflection where you start thinking of all the "should have's", "could have's" and regrets. Maybe I'm just a natural born quiter, but I then realize that I'm the only one miserable over the situiation (and rightfully so) and I consider that if I start a ruckus over it, what are the chances of me ending up satisfied with the situation. Usually I figure the other party is never going to make it right to my expectation, so why dwell on it I'm only making myself miserable. In the end, I'd probably wash the tractor, grease it, service it and all that until it's in the condition it should have been from the dealer. Then when I looked at it, it would be just what I wanted (even though it didtn't get there the way I wanted) and I believe I'd be able to settle it in my mind and just consider that, the beginning. It would then be a lot easier to put all the other crap behind me.

Whatever you decide to do I hope you can find some peace over it and be happy with your tractor.

Just to add to the chorus - it's an awful dealer, nothing with JD. I would forget that dealer exists unless you have some reason to sue them for misrepresentation. Otherwise I would do all my business elsewhere, regardless of what color tractors the other dealer(s) sells. I own a JD and had a great dealer experience, but I wouldn't keep using any dealer I was unhappy with. Your hay equipment can be bought lots of places, and since the tractor's already used you don't have warranty service to care about, so you can get it worked on from pretty much any dealer or independent tractor repair shop.

GET THIS, THEY DIDN'T CARRY THEM!

I think many salesmen take one look at a customer, size them up and treat them as such throughout the transaction. Unfortunately, that attitude tends to trickle down from the top and contaminate the whole place (in any business). I usually figure where there's smoke, there's fire, and you are not the only customer getting the cold weenie at that place. Take your tractor, go home and enjoy it, but never visit that hole again. My $.02.

I think I've experienced being sized up on one look at more than one dealer. It's not just salesmen. Parts and service seems to treat me different depending on how I'm dressed. I seem to get better service if I show up in well worn coveralls and work boots than if I'm looking like "Mr. Douglas" from Green Acres. :p

Yea I would say you have missed it completly.

I did not buy this tractor from someone out of a newspaper or at an auction. I did not buy a machine that needed to be fixed. I could have went to these places and been treated the same way or better. I went to John deere. These dealer does not care about it's customer's time or about the machines it sells. How much money would it have costed them to check the oil? I put 2 qts. of oil in it. It was out of a castro 1 gal. jug. I think I gave something like $8.65. I think thats like $4.32 in oil. I put in 1/2 gal coolant thats something like $9. Come on this in going to break john deere. Its my opinion that the machine should have left the lot "ready for work". I dont know how much oil this thing will hold. 2 qts. did'nt fill it up. If I'd just assumed it was full I think I could have messed it up. Not to mention the buttholes where using it low on oil pulling a box blade. A big box blade at that.
Then again I just might be too picky.

davitk, you might have hit the nail on the head.......

Exiled,
I am in no way sticking up for the dealer, heck he may be a butt head.
I would think a dealer would prep a machine change fluids and do what service is needed and add it to the sell price. I know the local dealers in my area would detail service the machine and the price of this is added to the resale . Now if someone buys a machine off what they call as is lane or wholesale alley that is a different deal.
If you paid top dollar I would HOLLER!!!

I couldn't agree more with this. My original sale dealer will never know how many more sales they have missed out on because of their poor customer service. The "attitude" in that dealer was from top to bottom in the organization, and they've been in business over 30 years.

Someone answer this. Some years ago, I caught the fever. I talked sincerely to a NH dealer, made an offer, went home and waited by the phone..nothing. A few years later went back, made an offer on another NH.. nothing again!
A few years later, I bought a Kubota b7800 at another dealer. Very Happy!
