Having bought off road diesel in Arkansas, there is really no advantage. It is cheaper but subject to exorbitant sales taxes from the state and local governments. After paying sales taxes it is 1 cent cheaper than on road. After all that you better not get caught using it on road. What exactly would I be getting away with??

Thanks:

The unique feature I love about this rig is it has 2 suction hoses instead of just one.
This allows me to use it with the drum or any other container even a quart milk jug.

I was going to power it with a 110 volt AC to 12 volt DC transformer but couldn't find such a thing.
I didn't want to go with a battery due to the having to keep it charged up thing.

The Charger is the ideal way as it eliminates a battery to maintain.
I set the charger on 12 volts 15 Amps and it makes the pump sing.
It's the perfect power supply for the pump!

Do you have any pictures of your set up > ?

Everybody should have a set up like this no matter how much or how little fuel they use and no matter what fuel is used nor where it's obtained from.
This rig will work with anything you do to store and use fuel.

Nice set up. I have a 12/24 volt pump setup. I find that the 12 volt is fast enough and use a battery, I was wondering it the charger alone is enough to power the pump direct. set to 12 volt slow or fast ?
thanks

psj12:

Here in PA it is different. HHO #2 is a good $0.62 cheaper than on-road diesel. And as our friend LBrown59 here notes elsewhere, it's likely all the same low-sulfur stuff anyway, even though the HHO specs are looser, simply because no one wants to transport and stock two (or three) different fuels.

And, like I said, I can't find anything in my area specifically called "off-road diesel."

ETA: LBrown59, does that charger plug in? If so, you've found your 110 VAC to 12VDC "transformer" (there has to be a rectifier circuit in there to change the AC transformer output into DC. Not perfect DC, but close enough...)

1*One should not have to pay on-road tax for an off-road product
2*One should not have to deal with all the attendant rebate forms.

1*I agree a 1000 percent.
2*This whole charade of on road off road fuel should be abandoned.
Take care of it at the pump If it goes in a licensed vehicle charge the tax if it don't knock off the tax.
They've gone out of their way to make a simple issue complex complicated and confusing!

I am not going to say I am certain on this but I believe road taxes are 38 cents per gallon or even more that that. In my part of the state you pay 10 per cent sales tax so you are actually saving about 20 cents or perhaps more per gallon. If I have my tractor on a trailer and I stop to fill up my truck I will fill the tractor with off road if they have it. If not then I just pay the extra 2 or 3 dollars and buy regular on road diesel. For someone like me who has a tractor as a neat toy it is not enough money to make a difference.

HHO in my area of PA is dyed red just like off road diesel.

That's contrary to the whole point of off road because off road is non taxed = that's what makes it off road.

Well, that's the point. I think it's all the same stuff. But around here (near Pittsburgh), it's called HHO, if you ask for "off road diesel" they look at you like you're from another planet.

Looks like Arkansas has just decided to collect the tax by a different means!

Politics - from the Greek, "poly", meaning many, + "tics", ugly, blood sucking parasites...

Yes, it plugs into a wall outlet.
I have a double pole switch on the outlet so the only time there is current going to the charger is when I'm using the pump.
I was looking for something smaller more compact and less bulky than the charger is why I was looking for a small transformer.
However the charger has worked out great.
