Subject says it all... Can it be done? I'm not at all familiar with the BX backhoe, but I'm wondering if I come up with the subframe for a BX and adapt / fabricate it to fit the B2620... Then theres the hydraulics, does the hoe tap into the tractor hydraulics or have a seperate pto driven system?

Done some site searches and Google searches and haven't come up with anything, so thats not giving me much confidence that it can be done..

The BX backhoe taps into the hydraulics and is not PTO driven. I suppose if you made and adapted the brackets it would work. But unless your getting a real great deal why not buy one that fits your tractor, less work, no guess work and it will be matched to the tractor. Just my .02 cents

The BH on the B2620 is run off the tractor hydraulics. I believe there is some fittings that have to be changed to add the the quick disconnect and bypass hose, because it is off the 3pt hydraulic loop.

What is the frame width of the BX vs. the 2620?
What is the length of the BH sub frame?

The 2620 has a seat option that lets it swivel around for BH use.

There is a big difference between the frame, design and build of BX to B, definetly take a good look at it first. Of course with enough determination and money, just about anything is possible, maybe just not feasable or senseable.

Good Luck ! :)

Thanks to all for the info and comments. The reason I'm looking into this is I just purchased my B2620 and my friend / neighbor has a BX2350 with a hoe, but he hardly ever uses the hoe. He told me not to buy a BH cause I could have his anytime, or even just keep it until someday he might need it!! Can't hardly beat the price, but need to get the two tractors side by side and see what the differences are...

Just thought I'd throw it out on the forum in case somebody has already been down this road....

The situation you describe is the only reason I can think of to do it. Otherwise you're better off to buy a BH that Kubota already provides for B series tractors or a Woods backhoe for that class. Either way, you will get a subframe whose plating and bolt holes match your tractor frame as well as 4ph that matches the backhoe. To do what you describe will require lots of expensive (Can you do fine custom machining and welding yourself?) custom modifications. Do you want to spend all this $$ and then he sells his tractor and backhoe. What good would it do you to have an expensive custom subframe on your tractor that no one else can use nor will buy from you?

Ding! Ding! You just answered the $64 question!! YES!! I am a professional machinist and welder with lots of time on my hands!!

Or then again, I could drop over with a heart attack tomorrow, then what good would it be??? :confused2:

I guess you could "what if" any project you undertake... But in this particular situation I feel very comfortable with the use of my neighbors BH, and if it would ever come up for sale I am confident I would get first refusal on the backhoe..

Now.. Back to the project.. Would love to hear from somebody who has attempted this or completed it...

I'm guessing that if your neighbor has a bh on his 2350 it probably not a Kubota bh. I have a 2350 that I just put a Woods bh6000 on. I checked with three Kubota dealers around me and found that Kubota did not offer anything that would fit. Like yourself I am a fabricator and opted to make my own subframe and 4ph. I did this for two reasons...... It was cheaper (not putting $$$$ on my time) and the fact that I liked things about the woods system and the Kubota bx24 set up. It can definately be done. I used the woods manual as a guide and a few trips for some pics of a BX24 at the dealer. Just takes time and patience. A suggestion would be to check with woods, assuming your neighbor has a woods model, and see if they have a subframe for your model. They generally run in the $1500 ballpark including the hydraulic hardware you would need.

I guess I'm too late adding my comments here- dc welding is right. The 2350 does NOT have thier own BH. It may be a 3pt hitch model or type that has its own subframe. IF you were talking about a BX23 BH and want to use it on your B, it would be alot easier to use his whole tractor with BH instead of modifiying it to the B. Since its a 2350, its probably a 3pt model and your best bet is to check th BH brand, I am willing to bet its 90% a wood model and a phone call to woods will let you know if it worth messing around and sawpping to your B. There is a chance that it may work- this is the sort of stuff we love to do and know if it worth the time and money to swap BH between BX's and B's.

I'll have to do some checking this weekend on the brand, I know it's orange, but so are the Woods BH. I also know it has a subframe, cause he has to remove his 3 ph when he puts the hoe on.

It probably is a Woods, in which case it is definitely NOT a 3pt model. The only bh Woods has for a sCUT is the BH6000 and when you buy one, Woods provides a subframe that specifically matches your tractor frame to that bh with a 4ph. Good thing you bet was laid on the part about being a Woods and not on the part about being a 3pt. BTW, I have the Woods BH6000 on my BX2200.

Oh, one other thing, I think you meant there's a 90% probability it's a Woods. I doubt the BH itself is 90% Woods; that means the other 10% comes from somewhere else. That's possible if it's old, beat up, and has had cylinders, etc. replaced with after-aftermarket parts.
