Interesting to see what it takes to close a post here at TBN anymore (ie. costume thread). Its just not for me anymore. I have enjoyed many folks comments here over the years. I'll check my messages now and then, but really have little to contribute since going tractorless (although I am using bigger equipment then I have ever owned routinely). Thanks, guys and Rox. RaT...

Shoot!! You will be missed.

Im happy here at TBN, I also think the mods do a good job of night sticking bad comments.

HOWEVER, my only complaint is = we should be able to discuss & name who the bad tractor dealers are in our own opinion (with proof)
It would help a lot of folks out if they knew who to avoid.

I think they worry about being sued

You cant sue the messenger, the supreme court has ruled

Other than that I enjoy 95% of TBN.

Rat, if you split this scene you will be missed by all, along with junkman, henro, ect.... yea I miss them.

You gotta admit, junkman had some whoppers !

IMHO the site is moderated just fine. We are all human and all have different opinions about everything. :)

I can think of two reasons real quick why it shouldn't be allowed...

1. You would rarely here the dealer's side of the story. That makes it a one sideded argument.

2. Nobdy knows if any of the information anyone gives in their profiles is real or not, either. No way of finding out who is saying bad things about you.

If someone has a bad experience with a dealer they should take it to their local BBB. Likewise, if someone wants to start doing business with a dealer they are unsure of, they should contact the dealer's local BBB and inquire about any complaints.

Dittos! We always advise shoppers to request references from WHOEVER they are shopping, at least 3-4, and at least a few a year old or more. At least on the one brand forum I frequent, most of those who say they regret their purchase made no effort to do this prior to purchasing.

Anyone willing to spend a few hours on the net, here or elsewhere, can find plenty of tips as to how to shop as safely as possible. Lack of references should be a better warning than any online bashing.

I also think, again, IMHO, that this would be a different situation face to face; how thoughts and ideas are relayed on a keyboard vs in person is very different.

Good point.

Moss,

#1 invite the dealer on to chat about here in public, that way even YOU can be a judge for a day !! Please proofread what your commenting on, it says (with proof)

#2 thats ok Moss, everyone knows your profile MIGHT be phony too:rolleyes:
I prefer to trust people until they show otherwise.

The BBB is about as effective as a bb gun in a real gun fight, and you know it.

The BEST sources are places like TBN, other tractor forums ect... to expose the dirty dealers.

Well, I'm pretty new here to TBN, so I'm not sure I'm qualified to chime in. I joined right after I bought my first tractor and realized how much I DIDN'T know about them. Personally this sight is like a breath of fresh air to me. Besides the vast amount of experience and advice you will find here, the "family environment" is a real plus. It says a lot about those who do stick around, and I look forward to the friendships that will come (and some that have already started) with plain folks who like thier seat time.

I appreciate the work the mods do to keep it that way, but it seems like the members do their part too. It's kind of like "broken window" plan Mayor G. used in New York. If a building had broken windows and generally looked run down, it wasn't a big deal to spray paint all over it. But when they fixed up the buildings and replaced the windows, it made people think twice about destroying it. The mods are always looking for those broken windows, and fixing them to keep us on track. The result is a very respectable forum that I too can be a part of with my 3 yr old in my lap.

While I only saw a few threads/posts from RaT, I do respect how long he's been around and how much he's contributed to the forum, but the thing I respect the most, is that he recognized that his views and the views of the mods were not aligned, and he decided to move on rather than cause a big stink or a lot of headaches for the mods. To me that takes class.

What dealer is going to want to argue with a customer in public??? That is just bad business, even if the dealer is correct. Can you EVER think of a time that you have seen a store owner stand on a public street and hold up a sign the read something like "Joe Johnson tried to snake me out of warranty repair money for something he broke by using the thing improperly! Here's a copy of the invoice and the price he paid for the thing. And here is the broken thing and the pictures I took at his property at 123 Maple St. on June 1st. I think he broke it by doing this....." etc....

I don't think any of us has and that is not what I would like to see this place turn into.

I don't mean to get the thread off-track, but....

I am assuming it is acceptable to give kudos to a dealer for good service, etc. Is that correct? Being a relative newby, I just thought I would make sure.
