JD 2305 vs. BX24

   / JD 2305 vs. BX24 #82
Good thread for prospective buyers. My BX22 is 5+yrs old. I probably got one of the first ones in California. Someone mentioned it earlier...ability to transit through walk through gates in stone walls was critical to me. At the time (2002) no one had anything else in a BX22 size with TLB capacity, so my decision was fairly easy. The 22 has been an outstanding little tractor. My neighbor has a commercial JD backhoe (410E) and frequently borrows the little 22 for 'up close and personal' work around his property.

I did visit a couple local JD dealers when I was looking, checked out their compact line (790 I think). The JD dealers in my area were commercial business focused, not rude, but not anxious to go the extra mile for a residential buyer. The bota dealer was most willing to work with me. He didn't have a 22 (they had just come out), but offered to go pick one up (160mi away) so I could take it for a spin.

I'm not anti-JD at all. I had a VERY solid JD332 diesel SCUT for years. You can't really go wrong with either green or orange IMO. Now that JD has a stubbyTLB comparable to the 22/23/24, life is better for the buyer as there are more options...ergo this thread.

Just to add to the mix....

When I was looking a few months ago the biggest "advantage" touted for and by the orange group was lower price.

When I asked my local orange dealer why I should buy his tractor, his response was that he was "waaay" cheaper than that expensive green tractor.

For my tractor buying experience "waaay" cheaper was less than $1k cheaper for a comparable orange.

Example:

Member "workinallthetime" in post #74 states that his local orange dealer is offering a BX24 for $15,500 to $16,000.

Member "archerynut" in post #46 states that the green BH option is $4,587.47

My JD 2305 with FEL and Box Blade was $12,125 delivered. If I add the 260 BH at the above $4,587 then my grand total would be $16,712.

Both are great tractors, but I don't see how an orange "advantage" can be "waaay" cheaper over the green.

I agree, it's not waaay cheaper than the green. I think people have the misunderstanding that green is way more expensive due to the color. Not true, in my research the orange actually priced out higher than the green so comparable models. However the red (Massey Ferguson) was Waaay cheaper and seems to just as much tractor as the others.

When I bought my BX23 I didn't see a JD with a FEL MMM and BH for any where near what I Got the BX23 for.

John Deere did not have a branded backhoe for their subcut when you bought your BX.

Congrats on the new Massey 2310. Hope it serves you very well.

How did the MF compare in price to the JD and KB?

There was a considerable price difference. Probably saved between 1200 - 1500 dollars. The MF was more expensive in PA so I went to West Virginia (60 miles) and saved thousands.
