JD 455 or Kubota g1900?

It's 5 acres, right?
1*Forget the 48" unless you just want to ride the tractor all day.
If you can swing $13K (payments up to 7 years) you can get into a BX2350 or JD 2305 with a 62" deck and FEL. You'll be much better off with those machines on 5 acres than with a garden tractor.
2*They turn far better than you probably realize
(remove the FEL and you won't see a difference from a garden tractor). You can also go much faster on them and still get a great quality cut.
That said, an X500 series machine (or the 455/G1900) will certainly work.
3*For the price of the X700, just get a 2305 instead.
4*For the money the BX1500 is also something to look at.
The BX series machines are sturdy little fella's...

1*You got that right.
I have a 54'' deck on my CC gr2554 but I mow most of my 2.33 acres with the bx23 and 60'' mmm because 60'' is faster than 54''.
2* I don't have any trouble with the maneuverability of my BX23 on my little ole 2.33 acres.
If 5 acres ain't enough room for Rlbol to operate a Sub compact on perhaps he needs tractor operating lessons before considering any tractor.
3*Either that or the BX2350.
4*That's what I been tryin to tell him.

My recommendations
Top end BX2350 or JD 2305 60to 62 " mmm.
Another good choice is the MF GC2310 with 60 inch mower.

Min. end BX1500 54" MMM.
With 5 acres I would stay out of the garden tractor line up altogether.

my property has a lot of trees, so
1*I do want the maneuverability. When I was looking through the specs. The compact tractors had an uncut radius of up to 36" versus 6 " on the x7 AWS.
That is the only reason for limiting my self to the Garden tractors verses the compact tractors.
2*I Know I don't need it to turn that tight other wise I would go with a ZTR.
3*But what ever one I end up with it will need to be some what maneuverable .

1*Compact tractors are a whole nother ball game compared to Sub compacts.
3*I get the impression you have the impression Sub Compacts are about as maneverable as a semi on a postage stamp which isn't any where near true.

Thanks for all the replys
I am actually going to look at the Bx tractors tomorrow, thanks to all your suggestions! I cant believe the difference in price! The reason for my concern with the cutting radius is, in the john deere catalog it lists the uncut radius on the x7 aws as something like 6" but the kubota bx and the JD tractors as the "turning radius as 7+ feet. I have no found out that is not the same measurements. So for the people with the BX's and a 60" MMM how tight a turn can you make while mowing? can you circle tree or do you have to make passes?

1*I bought the X748 because I wanted a 4X4 for light snow plowing.
I looked at the BX1800 (1500 is 2 cylinder & vibrates too much for me.
2*I drove the 2350 and it was not near as maneuverable as the 748.
3*Don't know where you live but if you ever decide to put a snow blade on be aware that the Kubota does not have hydraulic blade angle and the 455 does.

1*But it's still only a garden tractor and the op needs more than a garden tractor for his 5 acres.
2*You are comparing a garden tractor with a s-cut; so of course one would expect to notice a difference in maneuverability.
That's like saying a Toyota pick up is more maneuverable than a Mack truck.
Guess I will have to take the 748 for a test drive and see for my self how it handles compared to my bx23 which does quite well even with the fel and the BH both on it at the same time.
3*I can put a power angled blade on my CC2554 garden tractor so it's hard to believe I couldn't do the same on a BX1500 or my BX23.
Something to ask the Kubota Dealer when I discuss buying a tractor or two from him next week.
Here is something to think about concerning attachments.
Implements for S-Cuts are not usually brand or model specific.
This results in a larger cheaper pool of use implements.
Attachments for garden tractors tend to be brand specific and even model specific resulting in fewer available attachments at higher prices.

1*Between what and what?
2*It's not really a fair or accurate comparison comparing all wheel steer with 2 wheel steer.
3*I couldn't say with my BX23 cause I never checked it out simply because i never seen the turning radius as a problem or even noticable.
4*My CC gt2554 cuts sharper than the BX23 but it makes little if any differences when cutting around a tree.
It's no more bother to mow around a tree with the BX23 with the 60'' mower than it is with the CC2554 with a 54'' mower..

Take off the ROPS for better clearance around trees and a Kubota BX isn't much larger than an X700. But, it will not have the manuverability of the G1900 which has AWS. By mentioning the 455 and G1900, I presumed you were looking at used machines after getting X7xx sticker shock. I see many used low hour Kubota G tractors in the $3-4k range, and BXes in the $5-6k range, about half the price of a new X700 diesel model.

I made the Mistake of buying the CC garden tractor a year ago instead of a bx1500 like I was going to.
Nothing wrong with the CC - just wasn't the right outfit for me.
************
I want to pay my Kubota Dealer a visit tomorrow or Monday.
I'm looking for a deal on 2 tractors.
The models I want to discus with him are the.
BX1500
BX1850
G 2160
GR2100
I also want to discuss these attachments.
Front Blade used
Tiller used.
New or used 54'' mower
**************
If me and the dealer can come to terms the CC with the new front blade and new rear tiller will probably be going up for sale shortly.

1) the price between a x700 and a kubota BX, The deere dealer doesnt really want to sell anything. where the kubota dealer is actually working to make a sell. that makes a big difference to me!
2)I was just woried about it being more work then on my CC lt1050 to mow.
4) that is what i wanted to hear!

Oh yes! Hugh sticker shock!! the x700 is nice , i like how it looks, and like the engine but it is very expensive!
Unfortantly where in live in south florida there are very little garden tractors sold. everything is ZTR. so I havent been able to find anything other then a old and very used g1900. not a single 455 to be found. that is why i am leaning towards a bx or maybe an x500. but then again the JD is almost the price of the BX
