I'm looking @ both of these tractors and would like to know if I'm getting good prices & advantages of the 3320 over the l3800 (both new). Both HST trans.

JD 3320 w/300X FEL: $21495
Kubota L3800 w/LA524 FEL: $18945

knowing all options quoted, i.e. hydraulic valves, gear or hydro trans, etc. will help decipher you discounts a little better.

Did you operate both units?

The JD is a deluxe tractor, while the L3800 is a "budget" Kubota. The
deluxe Kubota equivalent to the 3320 is the L3240. Conversely, the
budget Deere is something like the 3038E.

What you get with deluxe vs. budget is more features, weight,
hydraulic implement pump pressure and flow, operating station room, etc.

In my opinion, the criteria for an apples-to-apples comparison of 4x4
compact tractors is weight, then features, then hp.

The Kub L3800 is closest in comparison to the JD 3038E while the JD 3320 is closest in comparison to the Kub Grand L3240. You should be able to get a JD 3038E with 305 Loader for around $17,500.00

I see dfkrug beat me to this info for you!

Down by me at the JD dealer you will see some 3x20's with thier front axles torn apart. You must ask the JD guys why. They sure did not tell me when I asked.....

You need to apples to apples, presently you're apples to oranges.

Yes, the 3320 is deluxe vs. a "budget" or economy Kubota. To be apples to apples you need to compare to the Grand L. I lose a lot of deals because of apples to orange comparisons. Not fair to the dealer or brand.

So what are you trying to say?

Pretty well agree with the comments stated here. Although comparable in HP they are not similar tractors. The JD has a lot more gadgets than the 3800 because it is a deluxe and the Kubota is the budget. I suggest either looking at the Kubota "deluxe" or the JD "budget" to get the best comparison for your money:thumbsup:

As for Murph's comments about front axles being torn apart, expect problems from ALL tractors and get the one that will service you best when this rare occasion happens. More than likely the reason this guys axles are torn apart is he had too much in the front end loader without proper ballast in the rear, which would damage any tractor. Be sure to always safely ballast your tractor as things like the front axle cracking will occur with any model you buy. As for the axles cracking regularly, I really haven't heard anything about that, I have a 3120 myself and they are perfectly fine, couple friends with 3x20's and plenty of people on TBN without front axle problems, so I'll say this was operator error

I understand that the L3800 is a budget & the 3320 is a deluxe. Right now I have pricing for the following (all HST & new). Was not impressed with the weight of the 3038e.

L3800:$18945
JD 3320: $21495
GL3420: $23500

I'm mainly curious if the pricing is fair? Also, is the jump from the L3800 to the JD 3320 worth the extra $? Dealer said the JD 3320 was a great price & is usually $3k more, is this correct? The grand is a little more than what I want to spend, but did like.

3320 price does seem exceptional to me. I think you'd enjoy the "deluxe" tractor vs economy. You'll find the 3320 and 3420 pretty comparable in power and comfort though, looking at the prices quoted the 3320 looks to be the way to go to me!

The only real wart on the Kubota's nose is the jerky 3 point hitch, if you can live with that and need a basic tractor the L3800 is the most power for the lowest price. It IS slightly less weight, which isn't a good thing.

The Deere's, (I think) have aluminum gearcases in the rear, which I've never understood. Why put lighter material where you want weight?

The 3038 doesn't compare well to the L3800 in most areas I've looked at. I remember looking at them when I was shopping, it seems to me the basic loader features weren't so good, neither was the rear lift capacity. I could be wrong there, you need to research all the numbers yourself, then test drive and finally decide which dealer has the best chance of serving you well.

I have an 09 L3400, which has been a very good tractor except for the rough 3 point hitch, which Kubota has NOT fixed for 2011 or 2012 as far as I know in the L3200 or L3800.

Pretty much the same dilema I faced 6 years ago. I was comparing the L3400 to the 3320.

The GL was out of my budget and the 3038 did not exist then.

The 3320 is a small step up in performance over the 3800, but not much. The 3PH will lift a tad more as will the loader. And overall, it weighs 300lbs more as well. I wasnt interested in all the features. For me, the simpler the better. And the "Frills" along with the slightly better lift specs just wasnt worth the extra 3k I was quoted.

The grand L is quite a step up over the 3320 also. More lift and heavier.

The 3038 is a step down from the 3800 IMO.

I think the best two deals you have listed are the two kubotas:thumbsup:

If you can live with a no frills machine, get the 3800. If you want the frills, the added cost of the GrandL is well worth it vs the 3320 IMO.

Went to haggle over price on 3320, but it sold yesterday. What's a good price for the GL3240? Is $23.5K a good price? I'm in northern CA.

Was it new?? If so they should be willing to give you the same deal if you ordered... if you can stand the wait:thumbsup:

Yes, it's new w/fel

Yes, it's new w/fel

The JD dealer wouldn't be willing to order one for you at the same price? Seems as though they would if they want to make a sale.

No they won't order 3320 for same price. They had the 3320 all summer & just wanted to get rid of. If I order they want $3k more.

Bummer. Can't help you much on the price of the Kubota but I'm sure someone else will though.

2 3320's and a 4720 in my family. over 2500 total combined hours and never had a front end apart....

Main thing that ever happens is a wheel seal and they can be changed in about an hour and $30 in parts.

I realize some people think that might be a major breakdown but its rather simple in the real world.....
