JD4720 vs.Kubota M5040 vs. NH TC55DA

I'd still like to see some real information on this lift business. I guess they would not lie about it, but it defies simple physics. If there was some magic way to add this kinda capacity by changing the geometry you'd see it on every loader out there. I checked a few other models from Deere's and New Holland's construction line and none of them lift more in the bucket than at the pin. I really do want to know exactly how this is working, I'm genuinely curious.

(EDIT: This our the models I looked at where hydraulic self leveling, this is mechanical).

I'm not going to quote you alot of numbers, just experience. I own a JD 4720. When I bought it in 12/04 the CX loader wasn't even available yet. The x model would barely get a pallet of sod of the ground. I was wild:mad: Finally got the dealer to put the CX on at no charge in March '06. Sales brochure for this machine showed it with the CX model though carryin a pallet of sod around a site. Once the CX was on you would not believe the difference. Pallets of sod I get are usually 1500-1800 lbs. depending on moisture content. I have moved many skids of close to 2500lb. concrete pavers. I have the 448 backhoe on and it's still light when you get that much on. I am using mine on condo and single family homesites and digging in blasted ledge most of the time and I wouldn't have anything but the Deere.

I think I may have found whats the closet thing to another example of this. The Kubota LA1601 uses mechanical self leveling thats simular to a 400CX. It does have less lift at the center than it does at the pin, however its only about 10% less, where 30% is more typical. I still want to look at one and see exactly whats happening. But I think I have to say that I stand corrected.

Neil, I am also interested in the possible mechanical leverage advantage that this 400cx may offer. I was thinking that is it possible with the 400cx installed, the hydralic pressure is also raised. NH does this for the TC40, over the TC35.....:D

Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That tractor is not big enough for what you want!!! period!!! JD and the dealer are WRONG about the lift capacity. i will give you my TC55 free if those lift numbers are accurate. You cannot lift more out at the bucket center then at the pins. thats just common sense 5th grade education.

Good deal, but not steal of the century.

How long have you been looking? How many tractors have you tried out? I am all for green, but don't want you to jump into something that won't turn out to be right. Have you already sold your Bobcat? If not, I might consider the suggestion to keep it and get a tractor without an FEL to use for tractor work.

I thought about keeping the Bobcat, but I just don't use it enough to justify keeping it. I mainly subcontract all my labor and occasionally use the machine when I'm in a bind. But it is convenient when I have to use it, and what a beast machine. It's like a small dozer with the 4 in 1 clam bucket and it only has 419 hours. I've decided to sell and use the $$$ for a tractor for the business and the farm. I'd get more use with one piece of equipment.

Mike is right on the money about this. You will be sorely disappointed going from a "beast" of a skidsteer, to the Deere 4520. Additional it's just a standard deal, nothing to write home about.

Well maybe not, I looked a few more big tractor loaders that are not self leveling and they show the same thing. Maybe when you get to the size of these larger machines that 18" difference between the pin and bucket is not as dramatic because the bucket is already that much further away from the tractor to begin with.

If its true, I'm still confused.
