I would be a buyer in quantity at $7371.

Sporty convertible with leather trim and stainless steel trim, etc…

Whitewall tires option for additional cost!
Dealing with snow, way too much of the year, I'm a hardtop guy (might even break $8k !), but that is a sweet looking ride, and perfect for your locale.

Closed cars more expensive but doable…

My parents had leather as standard in the cheapest new $380 Model A or mohair in the most expensive Model A

I hear tell that some cars at one time came with Naugahyde… but never seen a Nauga.

My only new car came with imitation leather in the BMW… no heated seats as no cold weather package.
Of course you have never seen a Nauga - they're always hiding!

Someone, maybe Hay Dude, makes a point; if you are replace a phone at 5 years; which is an amazing run, I try for 3 years, many folks replace every 2; but if we look at a vehicle as a 10 year item; no matter what Tech package it has, its very obsolete after 5 or so years. Imagine keeping a smart phone for 15 years...

Thats one aspect of the Slate (one of the few) that it like; everyone has a smart device, so why not just skip the infotainment system, and plug their already owned tablet or whatever in.
My wife's Toyota doesn't support Android Auto (nor Apple iCarly or whatever it's called) which blows. It has the hardware, they just had "privacy concerns" (bs) and tried to do their own car connectivity thing. I generally don't care but occasionally when we've road tripped it's pissed me off, but I'm not selling a well-running car just because of that bit of tech (I can still play music through its bluetooth, it just doesn't do maps from the phone; it has the toyota maps which aren't bad but it's a hassle to use the car UI to enter addresses so we never do).

So thoughts and experiences with the 3.0 Duramax in a less option filled 1/2 ton?

I would go that route if I bought one. I have the 3.0 Duramax in my Yukon. I really like it. I have had it a little over a year and 17,000 miles. Combined mileage is 24 mpg, over 30 mpg on the highway. I don't do a lot of highway travel now that we are retired.

My thoughts would be, what does the 3.0 Duramax offer as advantages for its upcharge? It does have about 100 ft/lbs more torque, but from what I've seen, it's only available in pretty high trim models. Basically, making the 3.0DM require a $60k plus truck.

Do you need the extra 115 or so FT/lbs? They are both rated to tow the same. The 3.0 doesn't make it a 5/8 ton truck in capability

That's hilarious. Toyota, who is widely criticized as having some of the worst privacy practices in the entire industry, has concerns with Apple?!? If there's one good thing that can be said about Apple, it's that their privacy policies and practices have been mostly always better than their competition.

No you can get it in any Chevy or GMC 1/2 ton over there base work truck level I've been building and pricing quite a few recently. Dealership let me take a 1/2 ton 3.0 home for a night it's nice torquey quiet and smooth. Unfortunately it has heated cloth seats and a heated steering wheel plus its white and doesn't have a rubberized vinyl floor 😂 My 7 yr old might have done more to sell a truck like that to me if I buy it than any salesman ever could have.

It definitely doesn't add as much as a 6.6 Duramax does. I really liked the Chevy trail boss custom low mid trim level with a 3.0 but hardly anythings out there in that trim level especially with the he 3.0. initially I thought what gm calls the turbo max was the 3.0 diesel. Lol it's not it's just a gas engine with a turbo. Kind of like when I was looking at there 3/4 and one tons finding a 6.6 rather inexpensive occasionally cuz that was also gas not the 6.6 Duramax 😂

When I built my 2024 Yukon Denali the 3.0 Duramax option was $1,500 cheaper than the 6.2 gas engine. My wife's 2025 Tahoe has the 6.2 gas which is a nice motor. My Yukon averages 24 mpg combined, her Tahoe averages 16.5 mpg combined. My Yukon is my backup tow vehicle for my 2 smaller trailers. The other option is the 5.3 which was not an option I would consider.

In the Sierra 1500 the 3.0 is $2,110 cheaper than the 6.2.

Until a couple years ago, I'd never owned a vehicle with one either. I can take it or leave it. As others have noted, makes it a LOT easier to hook up to a trailer. For other backing, I'll use it in combination with mirrors.

Both of my vehicles are 2019's, and neither has a lot of intrusive electronic crap. I wish there was a way to turn off the various chimes (door open with key in ignition, seatbelts), and the auto-up/down on the power windows but neither of mine have much of the nanny crap that became standard in the 20s.
About the only things controlled via touchscreen are some of the radio functions and some setup stuff (that's set once and forget). Heater and tuning/volume on the radio are knobs.
The Ford dealer told me I couldn't turn off the seat belt alarm in my 2013 F150. It was driving me nuts when I was out in the field driving around. I found the instructions in the manual. Most sales people don't seem to know much about the vehicles they sell.

It has too many wheels though. A REAL man can get by with two... or one on a good day. :D
You need 3 wheels to help balance the big round hay bale strapped down in the back.

How's this for a basic truck. 3.7L I-5, 4wd, reg cab, short bed, steel wheels. Ex gov ir utility truck, at local auction. Im sure a buy here pay here guy will snag it up, and resell for $3000.down, and $150/week for 5 years. Got it in my "watchlist", and I could actually be talked into going to look at it prior to the bidding going live.

Or this one, 2002 F150, 4.6L, 2wd, extended cab, already set up for a grader man, with the tow bar to "dinggy" the truck behind the motor grader.

Bought my 2004 Dodge Cummins new in 2004.
No emissions from the factory except for some egr in the cam profile.
I can't find that cam.
Paid 39k out the door.
Yes I put a ton of money into it but no comparison to these new junks.
