Here are pictures of the before and after of the joists. The first two pics are before shots, and the second two were taken tonight. It may not be perfect, but it's a whole lot better than it was. It will hold the house up. I have one more joist to do, but I have to wait for the plumber to remove all of the old line.

I still haven't done much with the wiring.

you making progress. Wish I was closer- I'd help you to get the wires straighten out. you REALLLY need the help on that. It's one of the saddest bunch of wiring job I have seen.

Your plumber needs to be taken out back.

I agree with that Dufster. If I could cut and paste the email that was sent to me with all of these pictures I would because the captions with them are just as funny.

I think we've established a sustainable pace.

The electrician finished his part yesterday. After his inspection, I get to start in on my part of the wiring.
The HVAC is done. (It's nice to have a warm house in the mornings again.)
The plumbing inspection on the new drain lines was Tuesday. Now he can start in on the old drain and supply lines.

Now that most of the subs are done, I can do the framing and electrical at my own pace. I still have to work around the plumber, and we'll bring the concrete guys back when the ground thaws.

One small victory that I won yesterday was that we ran wire to the back of my house to support a future 100 amp service to a shop someday. That was part of the compromise we struck. DW gets a salon first. She'll work, and together we'll pay the house off as fast as we can. Once the house is paid off we'll save up and build a nice shop.

Plan on a "Finally Building by Shop" thread here in about 20 years. I can hardly wait.

I need some more help. As I plan out my wiring runs, I'm trying to consider all future needs and run the wires and cable now so that I don't ever have to tear my basement ceiling out again.

What possible cable could I ever need?

I'd like to know all of the possibilities, and I can narrow it down from there.

Here's what I have...
1) Power. (I'm running all 12 gauge wire so that I can upgrade any circuit from 15 amp to 20 amp without running new wire.)
2) Phone
3) Cat. 5 Ethernet cable
4) Coax.

It's good to think ahead. Glad your project is coming along.

As to wires - anything low voltage (12-24V) on the horizon? Alarms, etc?
Dave.
