Kubota BX & Summit TX25H
Update - here is our initial video.

I just took delivery of my TX25. Unfortunately, the journey started a bit rough - I was told the keys would be in the Summit box with the manuals and other goodies, and unfortunately... no keys were in the box. Thankfully, the delivery driver was able to turn around and left me their single key until my replacement set is mailed out. Were everyone else's keys in the sealed box?

Initial impressions are that the build quality seems good. I am also a Kubota BX80 owner so I will be directly comparing these and my usage of both - in case any one is trying to decide one over the other as they are in similar price points / spec ranges.

My BX80 is newer with only 175 hours. It is paid off, so you might be wondering why we decided to rebuy a similar tractor. The reasons we went to a TX25 are because it has an included 3rd function, rear remote, Self Leveling Loader, and some other factory options that will benefit our usage. We're also no longer using the BX80 as our primary mower, like when we first purchased it. The added weight of the TX25 will also help with maintaining our 1/4 mile driveway and plowing snow - 6-8" of snow would push around the BX a bit with its turf tires.

I also own a central machinery saw mill, so I plan to equip the summit with a grapple for processing wood. We're on ~15 acres in SE Michigan and 3/4 of our acreage is wooded with a LOT of standing dead ash.

Since I already own many implements for the BX80, they should be perfectly sized for usage with the TX25. When the local farm store had a unit with $2k off the asking price, it made more sense to go this route and sell the BX80. Regrettably, I still have the rear remote I need to install on the BX80...

Does anyone have or know the Green paint code for the TX25? I have some attachments I am going to want to repaint. I am just getting my Youtube channel set up to start covering our journey with the new tractor, as well.

Given the ruts, I can see I am already going to miss the turf tires at times.

Good day,

Thank you for purchasing a Summit Tractor! We are very happy to have a new member added to the family! We apologize for the missing keys but we would be more than happy to ship you a set of keys. Have you had an opportunity to register your new tractor and get your account set up? If you haven't had a chance to yet, please give us a call at 770-209-3390 and we will get you set up and also obtain the shipping address for you so we can send the keys. Lastly, here is the code for Summit Green: Code 403218 PPG brand MAE. The paint shops will refer to it sometimes as lotus green.

Best regards,
The Summit Tractors Team

Welcome to the TX25 family! My TX25 is one state over.

Summit’s paint code is 403218 and it’s called Lotus Green. I got that info from Summit directly.

I assume you’re considering Summit’s grapple. If so, you’re going to love it. I’ve mentioned elsewhere that, in combination with the weight of the TX25, I’ve been surprised by the large sections of tree (also lots of dead ash here) and the size of the rocks I can move with it.

Enjoy your new TX!

What is the correct process for engaging the Diff lock? I tried to follow the manual, but my diff lock lever just pushes down and never engages. The light does not come on in the cluster. It feels springy, but nothing clicks or detents.

Hi there, for engaging the differential lock, please ensure you are doing the following...
The wheels must be stopped, and you must press and hold it down or it will spring back up. While holding it down is the only time it works.

If you still have trouble, please take a video and send it to our textline at 770-209-3390. The service team will review to see if we can diagnose what the issue is. Thank you!

Does it specifically need to be in 2wd or 4wd? I tried both. Do I need to keep holding it down and then start moving the tractor, or should it engage while completely stopped? Does stay held down once engaged, or only while I am physically pushing the lever? It does not seem to engage - at least the cluster light is not lighting up. I sent the video as requested.

Just as some general customer feedback - When I purchased my Kubota, the dealer walked me through every single feature. Buying this from a big box store was akin to buying a riding lawnmower where they just took my $ and sent me packing. I was briefly walked through some of the features, but they didn't fully understand some of the functions to even walk me through them (the knob for the PTO).

Glad to see someone getting a new tractor. I am still waiting to get home from my work station and I will get one. The more I see of this size tractor, the more I want one. Keep us posted on what you think of it as you put it to work.

This feels significantly larger than the Kubota BX80 series when sitting on it. While the TX25H is larger, the feel from the seat shocked me at first because it sits so much higher. The TX25H also feels a lot more stable with the bucket loaded, as the extra weight really helps. When I would fill the BX up with driveway stone, the whole thing would teeter without a massive counterweight on the back end - even with loaded tires. The TX25H handled the bucket just fine.

I am sure other brands of similar sizes would give similar impressions, but what won me over on the Summit was the out of the box options at this price point. With my rear diff not working correctly, it certainly is less than optimal on a brand new tractor less than a week old, but it will be interesting to also experience the service relationship since I was so used to the Kubota going to the dealer. I am also a little miffed about the whole no keys thing, because that is a quality issue, and I'm still not sure if the keys are supposed to be in the box, or the store is supposed to provide me with them.

Family Farm & Home indicated that the Summit service techs were mobile and did on-site service unless it was something major, and that is also partially what won me over. If there is anything any of you potential buyers want specific feedback on or testing, please let us know.

can’t speak for Summit, but on mine you want to be stopped then push your foot on the lock pedal and keep it down. It doesn’t click on/off.. if you let go it disengages.

Yes, it will be interesting to see how this goes for you. My impression of quality of the tractor from looking at several is good. How it holds up, that is a guess but going from the history of the manufacturer and the number of similar varieties sold, someone is buying them. I too am interested in seeing how they do warranty work but am willing to give them a chance.
Keep us posted please.

Can someone from the Summit side of things please reach out to me and provide me tracking information on the 2 sets of keys that were supposed to be sent last week, as well as status for the non-functional diff lock? Is there a service/case number or something I should have? I tried logging in to the App through my Android phone and when I put the email in and click "Login" it just spins and does nothing.

And I went to check on this in the pole barn, and noticed 2 small leaks under the middle of the tractor. It looks like Hydraulic fluid, but with how new this is, it could just as easily be oil. It is 100% NOT water. 8 hours on the machine - took delivery with 6 on the clock. I'm a bit frustrated.

Update - it doesn't seem to be hydraulic fluid - It is most likely oil. The dipstick was not installed - so there is oil all over everything. Is there any kind of inspection these go through before the customer gets them? I ask, because after mine sold, I know it sat for a few days with a sold sign on it and I watched a couple of people climbing around on it before it was delivered.

I need to read the manual tonight on the process for where the oil level falls and if it is to be checked with the stick pushed in all the way or resting. There was still oil at the bottom of the stick so it certainly isn't empty, but I am concerned if anything else got in there. Just problems I wasn't expecting on a new unit. Oof.

If there is anything else I should be checking that some of the other new owners ran into, please let me know.

Sorry if the posts/updates are a bit chaotic, but I'll try and update when I can.

Really interested in this.
Several of the things you mentioned seems to be a dealer inspection item. It seems like the dealer was a bit short on doing their job. Keep us posted please.

General feedback as a customer, I can say this: I think this type of product would be better represented at a small to medium size power sports / mower retail sales model. I feel like Big Box might be an issue because it was the Store Manager that sold me my Summit tractor, but he also only knew so much about it and I felt like that was mostly learned in the 6 hours of runtime on the handful of tractors he moved back and forth around the store. I could be completely wrong if they go through some in-depth training, but I didn't get that impression. I had already watched quite a few videos about this specific brand/model when I went in to purchase this. The other gripe I had is that once I signed my paperwork, I felt like my tractor should have been relocated so other customers couldn't mess around with it while I was awaiting delivery. I found some scratches and paint chips that were NOT present when I had initially signed the paperwork and did my walk around - because I specifically looked for that type of stuff. I don't know how I missed the dipstick issue other than to say that is pretty occluded from view. :(

The app does not seem to work for me and the product documentation all pushes for app usage - I've tried 2 different phones, and it seems to be a common issue in the first page of this "official forum". I would think that would be a major priority to get fixed, or stop pushing the app usage until it is fixed. E-Mail and phone are still great to use (and probably preferred).

I was told I would be sent keys, but was never sent tracking information and the person I sent pictures/videos of the differential issue to said they didn't see a case opened about my keys. I have texts for the service center who dropped off the tractor, but he said a case needs to be opened by Summit before he can be involved with anything and he sent me a number to call: 1-770-209-3390, which I haven't called yet because I am leaving for a trip and wanted to wait until I get back to see how Summit handles this. Being a Kubota owner, I already know how the local dealer relationship went with that tractor - it was great for the most part, but they also wanted to keep my business to sell more items - implements, accessories, a larger tractor, etc.

There is a cost savings with these tractors, but it is somewhat mitigated with higher interest (7.74% - everyone gets the same rate) compared to the 0% Kubota, Kioti, Mahindra, etc offer right now. I very much considered the overall purchase price with the financing rolled in. I also would have liked to see some heavily discounted implement offerings at initial purchase (or even a discount code to buy them within the first 30/60/90 days) like the other manufacturers offer, but there was no incentive for us to buy anything extra since it would also be tacked on at 7.74%, which is a shame, because I do plan on comparing this to our BX, but will do so with our current implements. Since these are in a similar price bracket, I imagine other users may be considering the same things alongside other sub-compact and compact tractors. I'll be honest, the DLL interest rate almost killed this deal for us. The major reason it is going to work out is because we're planning to pay this off once we sell the BX (providing the Summit TX25H meets all of our needs).

Update. I misread one of the dash lights. It is not a diff lock indicator - it was the cruise control indicator. (My BX didn't have cruise, and the dash indicator also has a lock icon) :ROFLMAO:

Support indicated that the rear diff lock is only engaged while actually stepping on the lever. It does not lock engagement like 2wd/4wd does. I was also advised it must be engaged from a stop and you cannot exceed 3.7 mph and also must be moving in a straight line - this is not new to me, but the engagement was. I still don't notice or feel anything while pressing down on it and it just springs back up. If any other owners can confirm that is how it is supposed to work, that would be great.

I also received my set of keys in the mail from Summit. Support has been incredibly responsive and working through text with pictures and videos was perfectly fine.

For the issue with the Keys and dipstick, Summit is going to send me a Free 50 hour service kit, which I think more than makes up for the minor inconvenience. They also assured me that if any issues arise down the road due to the dipstick not being inserted, they will take care of it. Having the locking diff not be an issue out of the box is a breath of fresh air. What great news on a Monday!(y)

So I stopped by my local Family Farm & Home again, where I purchased my tractor. I checked all of the other tractors and ALL of them have the dipstick not installed all the way. @Summit Tractors Support you may want to notify your dealer network to double check the dipsticks. They are hard to insert, and it is difficult to see. This is the picture off one that hasn't sold, yet.

How it holds up, that is a guess but….

My TX25 has >260 hours (purchased 9/2023) and thought I’d chime in.

There were a few minor issues with the tractor on delivery and a few since that time.

Importantly, I’ve always found Summit very easy to work with and the company is eager to resolve all issues with the appropriate sense of urgency.

The TX25 is built on a proven platform. The owner’s manual is well documented (a must read) and the Internet’s packed with troubleshooting info.

I’d happily buy the TX25 (and most of the I/A) again.

P.S., the OP’s correct, insertion of the dipstick can be a PIA. Even in broad daylight. Keep a flashlight in the toolbox. A little bit of directed light can make the task of checking the oil a lot easier.
