Well driller showed up unannounced so had to take care of that mess. Got lots of water now.
Almost ready for paint. Any recommendations on type of brand of rattle can paint for the engine/frame?
Still waiting to hear back on brake disks. I'll order them direct from China if needed.
I also found a match for the brakes from john deere forestry tractor. But they will probably come from same factory but 4X the price.

Are you planning on primer - like two part epoxy? If so you need to paint within a day or so of the priming. If your not going to do the epoxy then Rustoleum Rust Reformer or Krylon Rust Protector Primer followed by the final paint - i would do a dark primer and then the dark bluish/gray paint like the engine color.

I like Valspar rattle can paint too - they go on and stick well and don't flake off - they have fewer choices of primer colors. Stay away from TSC Majic paint - I got a few cans and it took forever to cure, and was not a good spray pattern either.

Need new thrust washer for front diff side gear. Should be able to find something close enough locally or online.

Rear axles removed. Everything is good. Built super heavy, one axle and housing probably weighs close to 200 lbs.

She's stripped down and ready for paint after quick de-wax rub down.

Robust looking planetaries in those rear axles. NICE! Are you going to mask off the traditionally unpainted parts or are you just going to spray bomb it?

Rustoleom Professional lacquer and primer rattlecans. Prepping is key, paint went on real nice and looks good.

Looking better every day - nice work. The brake pads you found in China, from the OEM, and curious on shipping time, and were they reasonable?

I didn't order direct for OEM, they are sourced through a middleman on Aliexpress.com
Haven't received them yet, but prices on parts are low. Cost of shipping is high if you want air freight.
4 bevel gears for front hubs and 4 brake disks were $180 total, shipping is $135.

Not terrible for parts cost, as most brake discs I saw were 25-40 ea. but the shipping is very expensive these days with containers going up 4x or more from last year, so i guess air freight, that's to be expected.

But if that's the only significant costs other than labor, paint, seat, and then tires/wheels will probably be your biggest expense - are you still putting on the R1 and new wheels?

I think I am going to go with 17.5LX24 R1 on 15X24 wheels. I have lots of hills, and this is the widest and smallest that will reasonbly fit.
Old tires were 12.4-28
