Indeed, it did turn out well. I don't know how it could have turned out any better. You had plenty of dry time to put in all the finishing touches you wanted. Sooner or later Mother Nature will cooperate and it will be even more spectacular. As it is, it's a very relaxing setting. Just ask Mr. & Mrs. Goose. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

So tell me...was Glenda really happy with your "experimenting" with her car? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

A little luck with the weather, I guess, but you did an anstonishing job with design and implementation. I just seems like a place you'd want to be. Very inviting -- which is what architecture and design is all about.

Sometimes it's better to ask for forgiveness than permission. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

That pond is a beautiful site, Harv. Quite simply, I think most here would agree "we are in awe". I think you should submit your series of photos and story to a landscaping magazine, pond publication, etc. Bound to be some takers on this one. Thanks again for your inspiration.

Awhile back Tim and Adam at D Magazine said they wanted to see it when it's done. The client is starting on the landscaping which will make a ton of difference.

The other night one of his friends suggested what I believe would be the best use of the property, restaurants. He suggested a couple of restaurants sharing the pond area. It would make a spectacular setting for special occasions.

One of the best things about the project is watching the client's reactions. He's very pleased and motivated to continue upgrading. In a couple of years it will be a haven far from the racket of the city.

Well the property finally sold and my friend moved to Oregon. This happened last year.

The other day I got a phone call. "Mr Lacey we bought the pond property and understand that you once came here to bid on a fence and instead built a pond. How would you like to bid and build a fence this time?"

Nice young couple who love the property as much as my friend did. And like him they want a nice fence across the front of the property, about 400'.

They want something different. Everyone else has been bidding pipe and wire, pipe and pipe, wood and wire, wood and wood. None of it clicked for them. After they told me this and the fact that they liked the basket weave look you see out west in privacy fence but weren't interested in a privacy fence I said, "on the way over here I thought to myself that I would love to build a basket weave five rail steel fence that is powder coated wood grain."

I've got a deposit and will start the process of fabricating and installing one of the most unusual ranch style fences ever.

The colors will be knotty pine (see link) for the 3/16ths by 5" flat bar rails. The posts will be walnut (see link) and 3" X 3" 11 gauge posts. Decorative Color Chart - Quality Powder Coating

100 plus pieces of the flat bar will be punched for bolt up prior to hot dip galvanizing. Each piece will be 20' long and have 4 punched holes at each end. Approximately sixty posts will be cut by the supplier and brought to me. I will weld on an end and drill two holes for use by the powder coater. The posts will also be hot dipped galvanized. In fact every piece except for the stainless fasteners will be hot dip galvanized. After everything has been galvanized it will be taken to the powder coater for the wood grain application.

Imagine a five rail fence that is just over four feet high. The rails and the spacing between rails will be five inches. The rails will be woven around posts, like a basket. Tentatively the gate design right now will be a basket, operated of course.

I decided to add this to this old thread because, well, one of the things we have built into the pond project is the TBN logo from the ATV bridge project.

Thanks for posting the powder coating link, I did not know they could do so many different textures and patterns. Cant wait to see pics of the job. How long do you figure it will take you?
