Just last week I told my wife that if the fence job went we could bet that the funding for my trip to Haiti would come through. I was right.
The steel supply had to get in the 3/16" X 5" X 20' pieces, 160 of them. I picked them up today and took them to a bud's shop where they will put in all of the holes required. Then when I get back from Haiti, I leave Sunday and come back Thanksgiving day, we can take the pieces to the steel supply for their visit to the galvanizer.
The I beam is the steel yards pallet thingy do for long pieces of thin steel bars. I will bring it back when I bring back the holy rails material for galvanizing.
This is a lot of weight, five plus tons ( tons) plus the weight of the I beam.
If you think you wouldn't want bud's job, 8 holes per piece imagine how much fun the packaging department is going to have at the powder coater. Each of these pieces will be heavier because of the galvanizing. Each one will be individually wrapped in foam sheeting to protect it in transit and installation. My wife's reaction to the news that the client was going to have small goats was a concern for the fence if one of the goats liked butting or chewing on fencing.
The posts are coming along fine. I'm just lucky that all the meaness of 64 years empowers me in this time of long days at work.
