We plan on a block wall behind a boulder facia.

We have a twelve inch by ten feet pier every ten feet along the beam. As you can see, a lot of shovel work involved.

One of the advantages of mixing concrete as we need it is we can adjust the work and schedule to accomodate situations.

One start of a beam for wall, have to start somewhere, right?

So far we've put over twenty yards of concrete out. We'll do over two hundred is my guess.

It would be tough if it was being done in the summertime in Texas.

They're predicting a chance for rain this evening. So I adjusted the floor of the pond to accomodate run off, hopefully. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Hey Harv, I've decided your idea of a pond is my idea of a small Lake /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Question, did you set the haunch pier parallel or straddling the base wall?

I thought I was lifting a lot of weight but that existing rock side must have been quite a load. It's coming together quite nicely Thanks for sharing....

Boy Harv, if this wall / pond ever settles, the guy who fixes it is gonna cuss you to high heaven! He's gonna wonder if you put your concrete bases clear to China.

But the good news is that 1) it likely will never settle and 2) you won't be around by then to have to fix it again.

Great looking project. I'm impressed with your talents!

Yes.

There were nine piers with haunches. Some of the pier holes ended up being closer to the wall than others. What is important is that the haunch is substantial enough and beneath the section being lifted.

In your barn situation you could drill a pier angled down from the outside, cut in a haunch, and lift that section like it wasn't anything but a thing.

I was lucky in finding a friend with a bunch of concrete blocks that are made for foundation repair. I'm not sure how well regular solid concrete blocks would hold up under that kind of weight.

I live by the code, you know the code.

Sometimes too much is just enough.

Harv,
That's an awesome project. I'm surprised you get anything done snapping so many photos! Many thanks for the documentation.
BTW, where's the location? You said it was not in Texas??
