The L-35 has a proven history of reliability, and 2000 hours on these machines is nothing. .

You know that may very well depend on what you have been doing with it. After several hundred hours on my old L48, I was pretty amazed at the amount of play in the loader, particularly in the bucket attachment points. The same was true for some rental L35's with much less then 2000 hours. My opinion based now on owning two Kubotas is the pivots do wear fairly quickly even when you stay on top of the greasing. My L3830 has definitely gotten much looser then the original fit, that after only 600 hours. I suspect its true on all compacts regardless of brand.

My L-39 has seen a lot of hard BH and Loader/grapple use in it's 300 hours of life. Hard but not abusive. At least I try not to be too abusive. Yes, the BH has loosedened up a bit. I pulled a few of the pins to check for wear. I did not see much metal wear. I think what happens is the pin journals and pins loose their high spots and tend to wear a fit pattern. I sprayed the Pins with Dow 321 dry film Moly before I put them back. I am too Lazy to pull all the pins. I keep them greased. I guess I am used to loose pins. I don't think the play in my L-39 is that bad.

GGB - Plain Bearings, Sleeve Bearings, Self-lubricating Bearings, Bushings is one of many. Hint, hint Kubota.

I wonder how much money Kubota really saves by not using Composite bearings in their pin Joints? $50 maybe? They are not expensive and wear less than steel on steel. I'd pay a few hundred more for a loader & hoe with composite bearings.

I'm no expert on bearing design, but it looks like they don't have the load bearing capacity that a hardened steel bearing provides. PTFE is neat stuff, but very soft. I doubt that one would last very long in a loader or hoe application where sand and dirt are helping with the lubrication!

Anybody know for sure?

What is used on construction equipment is the filament wound impregnated with special polymers, etc. not pure Teflon which would mush.

These bearings take about 20,000 PSI which is less than steel.

Unlike greased steel at 20,000 psi load, the composites wear less and tolerate dirt better. You do have to size the compsites to take the same load as steel, which may mean a bigger pin, but for a given load, the composite on steel is better than lubed steel against steel in a slow speed pivot. Long term wear is the consideration.

Composite bearings are used on much larger equipment than our little toys.

New to this site. Does anyone have any new info on this subject (B26). When will it be available to touch and possibly play with if one can find a dealer that will let you??:)

Alan,
Thanks so much for coming back at me with the info. The first thing I need to ask is, where the heck is DIXFIELD I can't seem to place it. I'm over by Rockland on the coast line. Guess I'll have to find a map and try and find it and also if they might have a web page. Thanks again. Before I close, I found it over by all the other "Fields". There are more towns that end with FIELDS that one can shake a stick at. It is a long ways away from me over near Rumford. I like to feel and touch, but not that far way.:)

looks like the b26 is what i should have instead of the bx23. thats alot of bank for the unit, but im sure it will hold its value and last for a long time.

Have you seen a Kubota that hasn't held it's value in good or rough shape??
What I've seen in all the literature I've seen I think it is going to be the machine to beat in it's size range. Ya the price is a bit high, but if it does the job and one can make a bit of money to help defray the costs, go for it.:)

Uhhhh....I gotta ask. Position Control on the 3pt. hitch,.....right? FEL fixed, or does it detach?

Cool unit. I think this is what you're lookin' for workinallthetime.

Thanks for posting the info, Steve.
