CW Stevenson,

Since you have made your grievances public Kubota has responded with a public answer. I still think Kubota will try to make you, the customer, happy. I have no dog in this fight but Kubota may agree to arbitration. Ask Kubota if they would agree to an arbitrator from FEMA (Farm Equipment Manufactures Assoc.) The key is to allow Kubota settle your warranty in private. No MFG wants bad publicity. As far as a legal challenge, you likely will win in the court of public opinion but legally your case will be hard to win in court. These type of situations often take a year to settle. Yes, that is too slow but its the golden rule. The man with the most Gold sets the rules. I believe Kubota will settle your warranty claim in private not in the public eye.

Hi CW, welcome back. I'd like to say first off that I'm glad you returned and that I appreciate the way you have posted this new thread.

I'm confused about the pdf document though. Could you identify the writter and where the article was published?

As to non Kubota impliments, any mfg that would void a warranty based on using impliments that they don't even offer would have a hard time selling a tractor. If Kubota was to void the warranty of a tractor for using a Bush Hog for instance, then the question to them would be what are you suppose to do with the tractor? You couldn't mow with it because Kubota doesn't offer rottary cutters. Doesn't make much sense to me, nor would I suspect that a court would side with Kubota (if that were the case). Especially since they included a 3-point hitch to begin with. If ONLY Kubota products were to be used with a Kubota tractor, then why include an industry standard hitch? It appears to me that the inclusion of a standard hitch indicates that the tractor is equiped to handle various attachments - both Kubota and non.

Keep us posted - I for one am following this closely.

I, too, would like to know the publication this "article" was published in. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Just thought of something else...

If a Bush Hog would void a new Kubota warranty (non-Kubota product), why does Kubota finance allow the item to be financed as part of a tractor package?

Keith, I purchased a 84" Landpride mower with KFC (Kubota Finance Corporation) with my L48. Tractorsmart has a full warranty detail at their website. It says unauthorized implements. Now, how do you determine unauthorized? Perhaps the size as specified by the user manual. But what about my Harley rake, it makes no mention of that implement. In the old Kubota brochure with the L3710, L4310 etc., they clearly show a Kubota with a Harley landscape rake attached doing work. I think there is more to this then meets the eye. I for one am not nearly as concerned as some seem to be. Rat.

CW, you have much more patience than me.

"but said that I must take as much effort letting people know that gray market tractors are not up to US standards as I did encouraging people to look at buying gray market or other brands."

I'd have told them to take a long walk down a short pier.

Call me LOONEY, but I think that Kubota is being pretty reasonable in this. I think Carter has a great point, they will work with you. But they have to protect their assets, as well.

I work in a Dodge Dealership, where we have to work around non-approved customer modifications, all the time. Some are OK, some really tear things up. Most were claimed "guarenteed not to void manufacturers warrenty"

I have a feeling that what they meant to say was that modifying a Kubota attachment was not authorized. A non-Kubota thumb on the back hoe.
I know if my New Holland tractor can't be used with my Caroni mower, I'll return the tractor.

I didn't think that was the case. Kubota Credit wouldn't finance the (Landpride) implements I purchased with the tractor. The dealer wrote up two sales slips, one for me, showing the package price of the tractor & implements, and one for KCC showing the tractor (no implements) being purchased for the package price, so things are 'financed' that way.

I could not disagree more. Kubota should be kicking the dealer's butt all over the county if they installed the thumb. They SHOULD be kissing C.W's butt for being inconveinced.

If Dodge tells a dealer not to install a fifth wheel trailer on a half ton truck and the dealer does. I think Dodge would apologize to the customer and repremand the dealer.(if they have half a brain)
