I disagree, I'm not worried of getting it replaced while under warranty, but when it breaks 4-5 years down the road. If they break when they are only a couple months old and it's not below zero, what happens then..
So - on a cold winter day - stand on the edge of the operator platform... new reinforced fender = less likelihood of breaking 4-5 years down the road.
(can you tell my thinking here was motivated by the political thread?)

You actually just typed what I have been thinking since the day I brought it home... I just didn't type it.... :)

I was thinking of the others that probably won't do this...

Sad, we have to even think this way, don't you agree????

I could just see a post 5 years from now when someone is trying to sell their tractor BX2230.. Steel fenders, won't crack like the BX2350's :)

Or BX2350, with upgraded fenders... Not the junky first design... :)

oh well, I plan on keeping it for a long time so I should just not worry about it... and break mine now... :)

You gotta have some perspective on this. We have seen about 1 in 10 of the machines that we have sold with this issue. Its not serious enough for anyone to be jumping up and down about. Its very possible that a dealer could not know about it because none of their customers machines have their fenders break. You can't expect everyone to know about this because the problem is not very wide spread... it may look that way because it only takes 3-4 vocal people to making a handful of posts to give the appearance of a major issue. New parts are shipping and they are all being repaired under warrenty, i am not sure what else you could ask for. It would be pretty dumb for Kubota to call everyone up or mail letters to them reguarding an issue that probably will never effect them.

I just got 4 new BX's in today, all have new fenders and battery covers.

1 in 10 is 10%..... That is a lot in perspective.........

So much for 6 Sigma!

Yesterday when I stood up on my tractor to get off - there was a loud pop from under foot - I thought - "there goes the fender"... it was a plastic tie wrap that I had set there - it was the pop... So... I stood on the edge for "fun" - and it seems solid for me... no ribs behind the fender for me.

Well, if my dealer acted like that, I'd have an issue. I've spent a lot of money for a good tractor. I have a great dealer, for that I'm blessed. It does sound as if at least some of the problems mentioned here are due to ineffective dealers. Kubota designed new parts to fix the issues. I know they have, I've seen pictures. Shame on some dealers for not being informed enough to make sure they are getting the new parts. Kubota has done what is expected. I'm sure that they'll step up to the plate for any out of warranty fender cracks as well....I've been around this forum long enough to see others issues taken care of like this, especially when the issue cropped up with others.

Honestly.....It sounds like some of you need a new dealer...and maybe Kubota needs to fire a regional rep or two. But the new parts are out there if you need them.

Yes you "thought the fender broke".... Meaning it is in the back of your mind now. I would also think you probably are a bit more careful as to not step too heavily on the platform. Yes Kubota will most likely fix it if and when it breaks but... Remember, This is a Tractor supposed to be used to move dirt, rock, dig, push, etc. This tractor is not as good as it's predicessor.

Thanks for the refresher I forgot - I thought it was a go-kart... With a loader, backhoe, diesel powerhouse, ROPS, 4WD, full Cat 1 3-PT, hydro...

Honestly - If you don't like the BX24 - find some other tractor. The point is understood - you are disgusted with plastic - it's all newfangled and evil stuff - we get it.

There are other of us - the 90% that DON'T have issues that make us want to burn Kubota's corporate yacht... that actually really like this tractor and think it's a great unit - and accept the first out of the gate issues... because a reputable company and most (as in my) dealers are doing everything expected to address the complaints.

IF I was to be a marketing guy - I might tell you that's the difference between early adopters and the rest of the pack - issues like these become - "whatever, I know the company will stand behind them because I understand it's a new product".

You are certainly entitled to your opinion - and if the issue went beyond cosmetics I'd personally likely be less tolerant of it... but again, "stuff" happens - and the fact remains Kubota, as an organization, remains committed to cleaning up the "stuff" where ever it flies.

Having your floorboard break away from its support is not cosmetic.

Some random thoughts on this issue...

I like my BX24.

I even like the plastic parts.

Kubota just made a design error that they may have addressed in a new fender design.

My problem may be more with their public attitude about it. As a corporation, they're very quiet about it. Maybe they think that have to be quiet for legal reasons.

They depend completely on their dealer network for customer relations. Some dealers are just not up to it, at least for us one-time purchasers of the little tractors. Maybe they're better for big tractors, or corporate customers.

Getting a tractor repaired, even under warranty is not trivial. You can't drive it to the dealer like you can a car. At least I can't.

I really appreciate MessickFarmEqu's attidude and participation here. I wish they were in South Florida.

10% failure rate is VERY BAD. If that is the rate nationally, it justifies a letter to all affected owners.
