Kubota B-7800
Does anyone have info on the Kubota kits for rear remote installation for a B-7800 or similarly sized tractor? Has anyone done this installation using the Kubota parts? Does anyone have pics?

A fella on the NH forum did an outstanding job of documenting the installation of three sets of remotes using NH parts on his CUT. The installation was clean and very slick. I'm looking for something similar from Kubota..........

Thanks, PS.

That certainly is a slick installation, and If I don't go the factory way, I'll definitely use your setup. I'd like to see the Kubota install first though......

You did a GREAT job on that setup. I'm very impressed!

The factory remotes for the Kubota B7800/B2710/B2910 are fairly expensive considering what you get. A comparible Prince SV setup will be less than half the price including hases and fittings. Since there is no rear hydraulic block on the B7800 your hoses will need to be a little longer.

Installation is easy and I have described it here many times before. If you do a search from about 3 years ago I documented how I installed mine. You can find it HERE.

You have a nice setup also Mad.

It appears that you and PS used different quick-connects than what I have on my loader. Why didn't you guys use the same type as on my factory loader?

What makes you think they are different? If you read my installation post you would have seen that I have 2 of the spools using 1/4" QD's and the other one a 3/8" QD. In my case the 1/4" ones are being used for a TNT since 1/4" allows better feathering. The 3/8" one is used for my dump wagon and any other standard hydraulic implements I may get a hold of.

Bear with me Mad. I'm a hydraulic neophyte!

What are the fittings you used called, if you don't mind my asking??

Am I correct in assuming that the QD'd you used and the ones Ps used are different??

You mean the QD's on the remotes? As long as the hose end male QD and female QD ends are compatible it makes no difference what brand you use.

Thanks PS.

I like the appearance of your setup much better!

MadReferee is right...the Kubota kit is expensive compared to using an aftermarket valve. I installed dual remotes 2 years ago as part of a cab building project on my B7800. I purchased a double spool valve rated at 9 gpm on sale for $189CDN (regular price $249) and made the mounting bracket myself. Good luuck with your installation.:)

One more question.

Should the gpm rating of the spool valve(s) be close to the gpm rating of the tractor? Would a 20 or 25 gpm valve be too large for a B-7800 that supposedly puts out 9.6 gpm? Does it make a difference.

Be patient. I'm hydraulically challenged!

I am probably on the edge of my hyd knowledge here; the GPM is determined by what you will be using the remotes for. If your intention is HTL, Splitter, hyd scarifers, etc. then no problem. It's when you start running hyd motors, winches, rock pounders, hyd PHD, etc. (think attachments for the front of a commercial skid-steer) then GPM is crucial (everything!). I am sure someone will correct me if I am off base here.

You can use any valve that is at or above the rated capacity of your tractor.
The problem with using a 20 or 25gpm valve is the physical size and weight of them, and you will need adapters to go from your little hoses to the big port sizes on these valves.

The GPM is determined by the rating of the hydraulic pump.

You are correct. I was trying to answer the 'what should I buy' question. You don't necessarily have to have a spool that matches the GPM of the tractor hyd's.

You would not want to put a valve rated lower than the maximum GPM of the tractor, because this is a "open center" system. The new valve needs to be able to flow the oil without restriction.

Say you put a valve that was rated at 5GPM on a machine that's pump was rated at 10GPM, you could have a restriction in the hydraulic circuit the could cause overheating.

Find a valve that is rated for slightly more than your pump's implement flow. For example if your implement flow is 6.5 gpm then a valve that is around 9 gpm will be fine, even going to 12 gpm will be ok.

The problem with going to a valve with a higher rated gpm will be physical size and weight. There have been several people here who have purchased those 25 gpm valves only to find out that they are monsters size and weight wise. All valve manufacturers list the physical dimensions and weight for their valves. You would not want a 25 gpm valve on a B or BX series Kubota.

The Prince SV is a good example of a valve that is sized perfectly for a B2710/2910/7800 Kubota, both physical size and weight. Eaton-Cessna makes several perfectly sized valves for B2410 and smaller Kubota B-series and BX series tractors whose implement flows are less than 5 gpm.

Thanks to everyone for your help and expertise..

Mad, maybe you could point me to the correct Prince SV valve and Gresen stackable for my application. I'm looking for 2 spool. I assume this OC valve does not need PB capability??

I have not decided yet whether to go Prince or Gresen..

The Prince SV, in my opinion, if byfar your best bet with the most options. You need to order the following from Surplus Center for 2 or three spools. I recommend 3 spools since you can always find something to use the third one for.

Prince SV 2-spool with power beyond
Prince SV 3-spool with power beyond

For spools, since this is not for a loader application, standard spools should be all you will need. Select Section B. There are other spool options but B is the minimum you should need (that's what I have).

I have no experience with the Gresen but I have plenty with the Prince SV and usually recommend the Prince whenever the applications calls for it.
