3-Point Hitch L-series Jerky 3PH - Jeff's homebrew repair.

I knew it had been attemped before, but just wanted to verify my idea of how it affected the FEL... I'm happy with my fix, but I guess I would've been thinking otherwise If i had the FEL on it.I guess I'll never know, since my next ride will be the Grand L.

Your's may actually BE fixed, that's the thing. Unless we have two tractors side by each to compare there are quite a few variables that enter into it.

I do think it's a design problem at the root, but I'm not an engineer either.

If I thought Deere had their act together any more than Kubota, my next ride might be GREEN.

I believe getting the problem fixed, is how far the dealership is willing to take it.. I bought mine and had it several weeks or maybe a month before asking about the jerky hitch.. Of course they hadn't heard about this problem (imagine that) but atleast they were willing to diagnose the problem. Kubota has the power to fix this problem, but really it's going to depend on the dealership whether it gets fixed under warranty. I hate that this problem brings such a shadow on the Std L's because they are great tractors.

I wonder if the New L4600's have this problem?????

I can't speak for all L4400s but my L4400 hitch is smooth as any tractor I have ever used and I do have a front end loader

Thanks for the credit, Doug, but I'm too stubborn to trade in the 3400. It's a nuisance, but weighed against the positive aspects of the 3400 I can live with it. And that's the reason Kubota hasn't redesigned the 3-point system on the economy L's, because although the tractor's not perfect it's good enough that they keep selling them hand over fist.

James traded his in on a Kioti a few months ago, we're still keeping him on probation for a while yet..

Hey now..:) No the jerky hitch was not the only or even the biggest reason for the trade, I just wanted a more powerful tractor I could afford. A new Grand L Kubota would have been nice too. I have used the heck out of my new Kioti, I have almost 60 hours on it so far, and it is a more capable and more powerful tractor.. the extra weight and larger tires and more powerful loader all add up to more work, bigger rocks:thumbsup: and things I just could not do before or could not do very fast. The jerky hitch on the L3400HST was an annoyance, but for most things I do on the tractor it really didn't matter all that much. It chapped my axe that Kubota wanted to deny deny deny. I do understand why, but like I said it chapped me. Like someone else said the jerky hitch thing is just a wart on a beautiful girl. The standard L's are solid capable versatile tractors. My new Kioti has many more features, some maybe just luxury things, but others are really useful. Well In fact they are all useful, at least in my mind. Hey at least it is still orange:)

So, it's been a while now since anyone has weighed in on this thread. Has anyone else tried this solution yet? Has the OP had any adverse affects that may have been caused by the fix? I can handle the jerkiness with my mower, and it's annoying but liveable with the box blade, but it makes using an auger almost impossible at times. If I can fix it for close to $100 and a little bit of time, it would definitely be worth it. I just don't want to open a whole other can of worms by causing other problems...I don't have that much spare time! :D
