I purchased a new L-35 in '94...the tractor was so popular then, that I had to pay full price of $32,000, but it's been worth it to me. One caution before purchase, make sure the 4x4 works well!! A friend of mine purchased one a few years ago from a rental yard, and had a "wild ride" down a steep hill, with a full load in the loader while in (4x4), as the tractor started to slide the rear wheels, and accelerate forcing him to use the loader as a brake! The front wheels were "free-wheeling" while in 4x4!
I assume it was left in 4x4 its entire life, and the differentials was warn from constant hard surface use, stressing the drive-train in tight turns too? I only use the 4x4 when needed, and am aware of the binding on hard surfaces. If you make tight turns, even in two wheel drive, the "outside" front wheel will skid, unless they have corrected the geometry there,... eating those small pricey tires up? Also, if you become a serious buyer, have them pull the filter located under the pedals/floor board on the "right side" of the tractor, as you watch for severe contamination! This will give you an overall clue the condition of the hydraulic system. If its highlly contaminated with metal, I would walk!! It's a tough tractor that should have been painted yellow, but TLC is required for a long life! If you purchase it at that price, which is maybe fair; make sure it has the three-point kit that was standard.... otherwise it will cost you another $1000+ for that kit! If not, that is a bargain chip for you?
