Buying Advice L4060 or L4760 - doing it!

Yes. The auxillary hydraulics suck (1 got fixed in the latest warranty run, 1 still suck, haven't tested the 3rd). The plumbing for the 3rd function hangs down lower than the rest of the machine & is pretty vulnerable.

Overall I'm happy with the machine though. Love the HST+, it sold me on a Grand Kubota over anybody else & has lived up to my expectations. I upgraded from a L3200. I wanted a cab as tractoring is now my side gig. Other bells & whistles are nice too. I looked at every color avalible in Colorado & compared specs hard, but still went orange. Partially because of my local dealer, they rock. I'd have looked Korean (Kioti, LS, TYM) harder, but I wasn't too impressed with the dealer & the only one in Colorado is 2 hours away. The Korean machines were decent & good bang for the buck, but Kubota was just a nicer machine albeit at a heaftier pricetag.

Went to the dealer @ lunch today to "buy" my new L4760...
Filled out the 0% for 84 month credit application - finished the specs on the build - all good.

Dealer called later in the day with the approval from Kubota finance AND some words of concern about timing...

The L4760 does not exist - which I knew... likely they will take delivery of a big box of parts for the tractor in mid/late January... which I knew... here's the "concering" part...

Kubota does not, apparently, offer any way to "lock in" a finance deal... so the 84 months @ 0% may or may not exist after Jan 1... which means - there's a tractor the dealer has on order for me but sometime from now to when it arrives - Kubota finance could change the game and make the "deal" die... While I think that stinks - it stinks more for the dealer who lives and dies by sales figures... if they pull the 84 months - I'll not sign and the dealer will try to cancel the order with the factory (the dealer understands this - isn't thrilled - but totally gets it).

Apparently no deposit or pre-sign can lock in the rates - only an actual serial number on a tractor can lock in the finance deal... and if a calendar date rolls and Kubota changes finance deals - your deal has to change too...

So - I may or may not have just bought a new L4760, FEL and front snow blower today and won't know until January 2nd, I guess...

I finally got a chance to really work the loader on my L4060 today & it's definitely the weak link.

The loader is rated to 1,800lbs if memory serves. The pallet with my new flail showed up today labeled as 1,900lbs. Add in 200-300lbs for forks to the equation as well. I couldn't lift the pallet. Ended up getting it a few inches off the ground or so with a couple bounces. With only a 5' LPGS (600-700lbs) & the loaded tires. With the full pallet weight on the loader & not on the ground it felt as solid, planted & stable as ever.

For comparison my L3200 was rated to lift 1,200lbs. I moved a few dozen "1,200lbs" hay bales + the same 200-300lbs forks. I had loaded tires & 4-6 50lbs bags of something on the very back of my 5' rotary cutter. That was sketchy & unstable as ****. I could lift the bales 2-5' high, not that I wanted to move with it that high.

The loader lift being the weak link isn't the worst thing in the world. It's a lot safer than lack of weight & ballast capacity being about equal to the loader lift capacty being the weak link on my L3200.

Now I wait until Jan 2 to see if the finance deal falls apart or not.

For whatever reason, the loader capacity is always given at full height. So yeah, it's 1146# for the L3200 at full height, but down low it's 2700# (doesn't mean it's safe or feasible, just that the hydraulics can do it). Still have to subtract for bucket or fork weight, distance forward of pins, etc,

Be curious to know what the lift curve says for your L4060 -- take a look in the loader manual and it should show the curves. I would have expected you could handle a 1900# pallet down low very easily.

Me too. But its hard to get used to the new numbering on kubotas loaders.

L4060 has a LA805, and the GL4760 has the LA1055

Breakout force 500mm forward......... 2551 vs 3171
Lift to max height at pins..................1720 vs 2361

MY MX has the LA844. 3261 breakout @ 500mm, and 2443 lift to max height at the pins.

So the LA805 of the 4060 is a good bit weaker than the old LA844 of my MX. (which the new loader for them is LA1065).

So yea.....maybe 1900# pallet is a stretch. But know that it wouldnt be an issue for the MX.....so probably wouldnt be an issue for the larger GL's either

Pulled the cardboard, plastic & PTO shaft off today uncrating it. Maybe 20-30 lbs. Lifted to about 1'. If I chained it to the lift hooks on the flail & pulled it in at least 2' closer to the machine I'd have no problems lifting it up high at all.

When I lifted it today I realized the LPGS was still on the ground. Got a little light in back, but still way better with little ballast in back than the L3200 was with a lot of ballast. Definitely makes me think the LA805 loader limit is a marketing limitation rather than a technical limit over the big loader on the same frame for the bigger HP Grands.

Through some small miracle of miracles - my dealer was JUST called this afternoon (I'm EST) by the factory - and there is now a serial number for my L4760...

I'm a lock for the financing deals this quarter - it's a go - mid to late-January delivery!!!!

I just got a new Kubota 4760 + FEL + front blower for the new year!

Whoo hoo!!!
