Power trac told me that Deutz did in-fact offer a glow plug as an option for their engine. Power trac never installed one before and were not going to start with me (no pun intended).

I was going to have to trailer the tractor to Iron River, Michigan (3 hours away) so that Deutz dealership could do the necessary work.

I am willing to try something else with incentives, rebates, warranty and a dealership near by. Tomorrow will be a big day - lots of seat time on lots of different machines /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif.

Hi Gray,

Going to D&B implement tomorrow morning.

They have a M6800 with hydraulic shuttle shift that they have been pestering me about for several months.

Now I am ready to pester them /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif! They have to be better than the Green Bay dealership (I hope).

Thanks

I like the look of the L48. But if your more on the femine side, I could see why the L5030 would be more appealing. Sort of soft and more curvey. Extra jewelry like chrome and of course the rich and luxurious full info dash. What did you name your L5030, "Git back Loretta" maybe Sally Mae would be a bit more appropriate. At any rate, I'm sure you have selected a very efeminate name. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Rat...

Rat,

I admit the L48 is not curvy. I do think other tractors are better looking. I looked long and hard at the JD110. It Has a sloped hood and curved loader arms, making the bucket view easy. Still not enough to offset the power and reach of the L48. I also like the step through more than the step over backhoe seat set up on the L48.

Yooperdave.

That is the place-D@B Equipment. The M6800 is a big unit. Or is that the M8400 you said? I saw a couple of the bigger units there, one with a self leveling loader on it.
Are you going to check out the IR570? Strong looking unit.
I am going down to Green Bay this weekend. Stoping at a couple of NH dealers around Antigo to look at the tc24d I think it is. Nice little CUT. A friend wants my opinion on it.
Is there another dealer for tractors or implements that I should check out while in Green Bay?

Have a good trip and let me know what you found out.

Gray.

Hi Gray,

The dealer for Case, New Holland, Kubota, Gehl, and others is Service Motors. They are on the east side just out of town on Highway 54/57.

They have several locations, but have NEVER impressed me. Hopefully you will have a better experience than me - just do not have expectations of a reasonable price.

Good luck

RaT:

I have no name for my 5030. It's just a tool to do work. I think my new Triumph Bonneville is somewhat feminine compared to say a Honda Rune.

Yeah, I don't name my stuff either unless "the tractor" qualifies. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Hi Gray,

Went to D&B implement today (1st of 4 dealerships today).

They had a nice selection with many nice tractors to ride.

The M6800 though solid & substantial & at a good price was just too big for me. I felt like a pilot of a 747 hoping I had instrumentation to bring me back home!

The L48 was very nice. Being built like a tank is not a bad thing when riden by an engineer. I felt I was not worthy of this machine.

I really liked their L5030. It had HST but no remotes in the back. I am getting a configuration priced right now.

I guess there is a territory disput between Service Motors & D&B. Kubota may need to step in and make them play nice.

I liked the New Holland TC55DA the very best so far. I go see the John Deere dealer tomorrow morning to make a final decision. 4 dealers is all I can fit into a big warm sunny day.

Dave:

I don't understand the term "ride" a tractor at the dealership.

"riding" a tractor won't give you any idea of how it will perform in day-to-day field operations.. What you really need to do is rent each model you want for a weekend and go tear up something.

My opinoin of the TC55 is that the Kubota seems to be built a little more sturdy and the TLB light years ahead of the TC in terms of construction. Besides, I don't like sloped hoods. Guess that's why I drive a Western Star. My ex-boss bought a new TC and I had a chance to use it last week. I like the 5030 better. The Long tractor is a mirror image of the Ford. They aren't sold around here but look substantial. I don't think a cab model is offered.

Yooperdave.

I just got back from Green Bay this evening. On my way back , I took another look at the tc55d at REW motors in Antigo. It looked real nice but having got the specs on it last friday on my way down here is what i learned.

It has a lesser 3 pt lift and lower hydraulic flow than the 5030 or L48. I do like the sloped hood and curved loader arms but the lift capacity is less than the L48. The La 17 of the NH is 1650 while the L48 is 2250.

There is much more room on the L48 and a bit more on the 5030 than the tc55 NH. On my L48 I can rotate the seat for BH use. This realy makes BH use easier and faster. The tight in location of the BH on the L48 makes a shorter and more manuverable machine. Also the clearance is a bit better than the sub frame mounted BH on most tractors. The price I got on the TC55 at REW was higher than any l5030 I have seen. I still like the sloped hood and curved loader arms.

I was surprised to see an L5030 today with an 873 loader in north Antigo. It is a new unit without a cab. Nice looking and heavy loader set up. It was a a dealer that had only that unit out and a sign in the door that they were moving to another location. I looked closely at it and noticed that like other tractors, there are many parts and things exposed to damage if you do alot of brushing and digging in rough soils. The L48 has far less near the engine and front wheel areas to get tangled if working with brush and other things like that.
I have had many pieces of brush and large root balls rub up in these areas of the tractor. Don't know your uses but just thought to mention it.

I had not heard that D@B where fighting with service Motors. They both have some nice Kubota units on hand. It looked to me like D@B was serious about sales and stock?

Did you see or try out the IR570 there? Looked like one nasty unit. What did you feel about the units you tried?

I guess I am acting like a tractor junky.
