Escavador,

Our dog is a female mastiff - 150+#. She could give it a heck of a try. This pic is of her at 10 months with my 3 year old. Shes now 14 months and still growing a little.

What you quoted was a perfect example of my fingers not being able to keep up with my thoughts..and nothing more!
ummm OK, so we shouldn't take anything you post as being your actual thoughts? :D
But hey, I've gone back and reread a post of mine and thought "what was I try'n to say", course if anyone calls me out on it I've come clean.....
Seems a lot of owners of BX's give the IMPRESSION that a Kubota BX is one step down from a Cat D9 or something?? Whether a BX can PHYSICALLY do a job..doesnt mean it was ever INTENDED to do certain tasks..PERIOD! No amount of crying or whining or chest beating is going to change the FACTS.
Man whatta stretch :D A D9? :D
Facts are that whether or not the BX TLB with it's FEL & BH and 3PH was designed to, ahem, work like a small tractor, it actually DOES! :D And theres actual pics here of it doing more than it's little size belies. The BX is already Kubota's largest selling machine, which makes it the largest selling machine on the USA.
Apparantly it was intended to do quite a bit as evidenced by Kubota's decision to mount an FEL & BH on it!
Even you've gotta admit that thats some highly unusual implements to mount on a little mowing machine......

If the testimonials & pics of many BX TLB owners on this forum can't open your eyes then my friend, you are more than welcome to continue to see things in your selective tunnel vision :D :D Just do us a favor and try to refrain from telling us that our machines can't do what we've been makeing them do :D
For every one else, the BX TLBs are nice little tractors that can do alot of tractor work besides mowing, and I approved this message :D

By the way, the rear discharge on the MMM is great, you can mow up close to anything on either side of the tractor and don't have to worry about the shoot. Save alot of time.
My Wheel Horse has a RDM and to tell you the truth, I don't like the clippings it leaves all over the rearend.
A couple advantages of the SDM that I take advantage of are the ability to use my Cyclone Rake to collect clippings for my compost pile and with the gatorblades I can side discharge into my next row and basically have a mulcher when I want too.
As for triming on either side, I do just fine trimming on the right side and don't have the need to change.
One trip to the lumber yard = 1 hour
Unloading from trailer = 15 seconds (five sheets of 3/4 and lots of 2x4's)
With my DX = priceless
With a BX = nonsense
Thats a fine looking shop and tractor but I from the looks of those tires, I wouldn't want that machine finish mowing my front yard. I'm sure my old Ferguson TE20 weighs about what your 33 did and it's R1's would leave marks all over my yard, especially when it was wet.

As for the lumber, hey, two trips w/the BX would have handled it and neither I nor it would be worse for it.
Hardly nonsense :D

Hey escavader, don't pay these fellows too much mind, they're bent on telling you that the things you've done with your BX23 was impossible and that even though you've posted pics and posts detailing what you've done, that your BX23 wasn't intended to do it so it must not have done it :D :D Amazing ain't it :D

Volf, enjoy you puddle/pond Just kidding. Do you have any other pics or are you still working on it. I'd like to see the finished product when done.
It's been done for two seasons now. It's about 4' deep and supports some snappers, crayfish, toads and miniows.
I just snapped the pic from my deck but it's turning dark so perhaps you can make it out. Oh and a long jumper will have to be VERY good to clear it :D

Volf, thanks. send us some better pics of the pond when you get a chance. As for the MMM on my DX, actually it works as a mulcher and not a rear discharge as case suggests. I'm not sure why it's called a rear discharge. The entire mower deck is enclosed. Advantage, it leaves no wind rows at all, even in deep grass. Disadvantage, no where for the clipping to go. Really takes some power in deep-thick grass, especially in a 72" deck. As for mowing and marks, no marks at all when dry, don't dare mow when wet. If its wet, you can leave some heavy duty marks real quick. One thing to remember is tire size, and width. The larger footprint of the tires helps. Tractor weighs in at 2514#'s without the mower deck. Only about 900#'s more than a bx and with a larger footprint.

The BX23 sans the FEL & BH weighs in at around 1500lbs, add the approx 300lbs for the 60" MMM and thats about all the weight I want for mowing.

The gatorblades made a 100% improvement in the finish cut and teh std blades weren't bad.
The BX is the best mower I've used on this property and I've had a few.

The pic is my old TE20 w/howse bushhog which I used to mow in the back but not in the front. My turf just didn't respond well to those large R1's.

The pool & deck was demolished w/the BX and teh hole was also filled in w/the BX23.
I guess I shouldn't have used the BX23 to do such tractor type stuff but it handled it so well that I couldn't help myself :D :D

Too bad I wasn't around with my DX33. You could have used it instead and spent the rest of the day drinking beer and watching football. :p Sorry, I just love getting the BX guys all riled up. :D

I would have loved to upgrade to the DX40 with the 84" deck, the weight of the next size tractor was more than I wanted to put on my yard though.

Gave up drinking along w/the smoking many moons ago. When it finally dawned on me what they were doing to my vitals I decided the ROI just wasn't working out. I amazingly found out that theres still good life after both :D
As for football, this past weekend just wasn't too good for me. The roundballers are doing much better tho :D
Besides, we BX owners enjoy the seat time :D

I took a test drive on a B3030 w/the conditioned cab and knew that if I had some wide open spaces to mow that it and a 72" MMM would be my machine. Can't use it around my way as I'd have to cut down and/or trim too many trees to just get around, and buy another finish mower to fit in where it can't. Thats just another reason why the BX works out best for me.
A few pics of the BX finishing up the pool/deck removal project.

Great weekend for football for me. My chiefs just squeaked into the playoff. I think there last stop will probably be Saturday in Indy though.

If I keep planting trees at the rate I'm going, I'll soon be looking for a zero for just mowing. Must be something my dad passed on to me. Starting as young as 6 years old, I can remember helping him plant trees on the property every spring. Our old property looks beautiful now.

I built this with my Power Trac PT425 last weekend... when you BX folks start getting ambitious, let me know.;)

Look, there's all kinds of stuff you can do with a small machine if you have the time. Really neat stuff. But be realistic when recommending a machine to someone. Ask them these questions:

1. What jobs do you need to do?
2. How much time do you have to do them?
3. What size machine will do those jobs in that amount of time?
4. Can you afford that machine?

In Volfandt's defense, if I too had 4 acres the BX24 would probably be on the top of my list. And that is coming from somebody who is considering an M7040 for 16 acres. If I didn't have a lot of mowing obstacles I'd consider a B2630 but the BX24 would be the front-runner.
