Landscaping tasks, looking at a BX24, will it be enough? Pictures included!

Chuck,

I'll second that. I would have kept my DX24. Perfect size for a smaller acre lot. I'm still amazed at its ability and the power to size ratio. I just ended up using mine for more than I intended, and also began using it for my business. Needed more lift with the forks.

Actually, I'm building it for a friend who lives a few miles down the road. I'll load it onto an over the wheels tilt trailer and deliver it when I'm done. I've built a couple of others and just use my forks to lift and push onto the trailer.

I'll try to take a few pics tomorrow. Maybe I'll start a new thread and post a link here so I don't hijack this one. Although this thread could probably use a short diversion. I'm just glad I'm on your side on this one, unlike the "will it fly thread".

The BX23 WAS the best choice for me.
I had a larger tractor and a smaller L&G tractor that I was using to maintain the property so I knew what I was looking for when I decided to consolidate both into one machine with an FEL at a minimum.

I went back & forth between the BX2230 and the B7510 as well as testing out the B7610 & B2410. Price wasn't the primary determiner (is that a word?) just one of many.

Since finish mowing was priority #1 I used that as the main focus but I also wanted a machine that would do more than mow and work 3PH implements. I also needed to carry material around and be able to dig and keep my fence rows cleaned out.
The BX23 fits it to a T.
I don't doubt that it would work out with more acreage. That said, if the more acreage was open field then yes it'll cut 8 acres as well as any other sized machine slinging a 60" cut mower. I would argue that since it has a fully suspended deck that the MMM would require alot less maintenance as well as outlast a ground contact mower.
If the extended acreage was woods that I intended to thin or work in then I would have went with a B series that would have gave me more ground clearance.

Thing is, the BX is Kubota's best mowing tractor and they've increased it's usefulness by equipping it with an FEL & BH that'll work for the vast majority of suburban /estate landowners. Many of whom push it's envelope which not surprisingly it handles very well

Gee whiz, it almost doesn't pay for a guy to take a vacation ... I missed Timber falling off the deep end and some, actually funnny comments! I really like the underground civilization idea but figure I'll have to trade in my BX for a PowerTrac ... a BX can't do everything ya know

Hi guys;

Geez I should check my PM's once in a while, everybody thinks I'm dead or something

. We've been super busy at work so I've been keeping up with the thread, just not posting!

Just an update, I'm putting an offer in on a B7800 this week (Thursday when I'm off). Comes with the 402 loader and a 4672 BH.

I seriously re-evaluated my needs and they not only include maintaining a 110 metre driveway but also building up another 300 metre or so roadway to the back of the property, fairly heavy bush/brush/tree clearing (see original pics at beginning of thread) and ground leveling. Nothing I don't think the BX couldn't handle but for the extra 5 grand or so this will cost me is worth it IMHO, just to make the work that much easier. Another factor was the ground clearance and what I consider some poor filter placements on the BX.

I also had to remind myself that I will have this machine 20+ years so it's best not to go a little to small and regret it (which most of you guys hammered in!). The JD is still a possibitlity but I really dont' want to give up 4hp, 3 speed choices and a larger loader capacity for PC (which is not high for use in my book) and independant PTO (again not too much a factor for me).

I'll let you guys know what happens and thanks again for all the advice.

Feel free to keep the comparisons going though, they are a fun read but dont' take everything so seriously.
